Some day I'm going to talk the Jesus Lizard into going up there and we'll have us a real time. Oh yeah, and it's the same Neve console the AC/DC album Back in Black was recorded and mixed on, so you know it's just got to have the rock.
Impossible not to respect the hell out of him
...I agree that it's hard not to respect him regarding his stance of what's right and wrong in the industry.
he does say he's now a bit embarrassed by some of what he wrote.
Overall I think it's a good letter with plenty of valid points in it.
because it's totally, I've got nothing to work with without you, but you're not going to sound as good as possible without me. So let's work something out.
are absolutely beautiful.
nobody is like this in the music industry. nobody.
to be more awesome like him then.
'no hag' 'bulletheads' and 'you're in for a bummer and i want no part of it'.
whole thing is awesome indeed, especially seeing as he wasn't a fan of the band pre-Utero.
...of that letter.
Then you'd have been in Nirvana.
and, even worse, a one in three chance of being in the foo fighters.
Really hoping Steve Albini never writes me a letter.
He's made a tidy annual income from Bleach royalties and it's quite established that Grohl basically duplicated his parts for Nevermind.
"I work circles around ya"
As you can tell he's stoked to be working with them, but ironically they rejected those recordings and did Killtaker on their own (or did they get someone else in? I forget). I don't think there was any bad feelings over that though.
Was talking about this with Wibblypig and we wondered about the arrangement that surrounded, uh, Bush's Razorblade Suitcase. From an article on AVClub I read between the lines that Albini may have taken the project due to Gavin Rossdale's constant fawning and flattery.
Having said that I would be utterly stoked if amyblue could record with him, purely for one of my favourite records, Uzeda's Stella. One of his best recording jobs in my opinion.
he has two rates - one for bands he likes and one for bands he doesn't much care for, but who really, really want to work with him.
