So summer is well over now
I seem to recall a couple of threads during the summer discussing song of the summer. Mine was BIPP by Sophie, I knew it when I first heard it and I'm surprised it's stayed with me the whole way through. It kind of got me wondering what a song of the summer means though, so I wrote about it: http://lilliantrotsky.wordpress.com/2013/09/18/the-summer-song-of-2013/
So, now summer is all said and done; what was yours and what do you need to make the perfect summer song?
daft punk "get lucky"
I just wanted to hear it over & over again. I even wanted to hear the synthesized vocal refrain on repeat. I think I still want to hear it, but with that "song of the summer" tag stamped on it, it's kinda like moving your summer clothes to the extra bureau & bringing out the sweaters & cords.
get lucky sucked so bad
there was no proper summer song this year
For new tracks it was probably Summa Time by Main Attrakions

Although Time by Pachanga Boys was so special that it seems to have defined the last year of my life. It continued to have more summer memories attached to it than anything else (mainly watching the glorious summer sunrise at 6am after a hard nights partying)... I'll probably stop playing it eventually

I was listening to the new Delorean album this morning thinking
this really isn't autumn music, could have done with this a few months ago.
delorean's cover of 'ride on time'
at primavera saw me through the whole summer with occasional bouts of 'get lucky'.
I CAN MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER
found myself rinsing Buffalo Stance this summer
as for new tracks, definitely second that Main Attrakionz joint, as well as most of Chance's Acid Rap mixtape.
Would like to draw people's attention to this Appaloosa track off the after dark 2 compilation - I know it got a pretty low key release, but I was really surprised not to see much reaction, especially after Chromatics did so well last year:

Disagree with your choice of heineken as the summer beer
good song though.
This summer I mostly listened to:
'Sunburn' by Tera Melos as my 'summer song'. Otherwise we just sat on our roof and listened to 'Abbey Road' a lot.
