Tips for 2014 - Rolling New Music Thread
With festival season over, a lot of acts are now finishing off debut albums for the first half of next year or going out on tours to try to build a reputation for themselves. Labels are looking for new acts to snap up (heard a few rumblings about deals being done recently). Festivals will be starting to keep an eye out for the next Chvrches and London Grammar's to stick on their festival bills....
Who do you think might do well next year?
BBC sound of 2014 predictions?
Which little known acts do you really like and hope gain a little more notoriety in the coming months?
...This rolling thread is for all of those 'tip' sort of things.
Seems like LORDE, who's on Jools tonight, is a sure thing for the BBC Sound of 2014 poll. Although I wonder if she'll have a Lana-like hit before then and not be eligible? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFasFq4GJYM
There's a fair bit of love and warmth behind THUMPERS (some of them used to be in Antihero and Pull Tiger Tail), who I imagine could pick up a lot of the Friendly Fires, Two Door and Alt-J crowd http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y95cEtVM8Ao
I'm hoping SAM AIREY gets a debut album recorded at some point, as he did a great session for us at Latitude http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ct0In0TM4FI
I tipped TWIGS earlier this year, but she's since changed her name to FKA TWIGS. Recent EP was good, but not sure she's quite ready to 'blow up', but with Young Turks who did the xx by her side, I imagine the groundswell is slowly building and she might have a James Blake-like moment at some point... http://theyoungturks.co.uk/catalogue/view/ep2
