Cassette stores, of course, don't exist, so this will hopefully not take off.
dunno if it will work if it operates the same way as Record Store Day (i.e. loads of labels reissuing stuff, charging quite a lot). Though I think it could if it was more about labels and tapeheads meeting up, giving away one off releases and mixes (they're so cheap to produce anyway, compared to records),talking tech etc. So more just about tape-fun rather than keeping 'tape stores' alive.
wish people would stop getting their knickers twisted over it
mini-disc shop day?
might do next year
i posted a million great links after everyone stopped caring last time so check it out ^__^
i didnae see this
it was shit at the time and only served as a portable way of carrying music before dicmans replaced them.
Poor sound quality full of artefacts and prone to being chewed up, the only thing remotely appealing about the cassette was recording stuff off of the radio and spending hours complining mixtapes for your friends/future lovers and that's it. The is no reason for a band to put out a cassette release other then to seem incredibly hipster THE ONLY EXCEPTION is for certain noise bands who rely on the shitty sound quality of the tape to get a certain sound onto a recording.
INDEPENDENT MUSIC LABELS IN WHICH THEY ARE INVOLVED
THE HORROR! ;__;
that 'from' should prob be a 'for'
it was so interesting and full of interesting opinions and valid criticisms like OMG TAPES SOUNDED BAD ONLY HIPSTERS WOULD PUT A TAPE LOL
" It's amazing that it got there, 'cause I was carryin' that cassette around with me in my pocket without a case for a couple of week, just draggin' it around. Finally, we realized, "Uh-oh, that's the album." Technically, it was difficult to get it on a disc. The stuff was recorded so strangely, the needle would read a lot of distortion and wouldn't track in the wax. We almost had to release it as a cassette.""
no hipsters bought it. I have a lot left.
