Proper 80s, proper mullets.
The Church's output from The Blurred Crusade through to Hey Day was phenomenal.
In terms of albums, Seance is a personal favourite, but it's also really hard to go past the Hindsight compilation for a fantastic collection of songs.
Feel absolutely disloyal trying to single out an individual song for plaudits, but in the hope that this thread will garner some replies and I'll have the opportunity to rave about some others, I'll start with A Month of Sundays:
Gotta love that 12-string guitar.
Under the milky way (obviously)
Starfish was an incredible album, but I played it to absolute death when I was younger. It also marks the point at which the Church moved on from the early-80s sound forever.
That's not to say that Priest=Aura and everything that came after is bad. It's just that it's a "mature" sound which I have no interest in.
They're post-80's output isn't necessarily mature. Did you listen to Untitled #23? That is one of my all time favourite albums. Very atmospheric as well.
but I'll get onto it. I have to admit that I'm still skeptical, but I will give it a listen.
and I'd recommend anyone starting out to get Deep In The Shallows for an idea of the different styles across their career.
