Should have told her to stick it up her arse
I'm sure they'd rather have played the festival that they were booked for though
Though with something salvaged. Could be much more damaging for Spektor
I've heard of them now but I'm not going to listen to them. If I saw them and liked them then I would. Although I'd probably have gone to see Regina Spektor because I like her and haven't heard of this band. Hmm
She probably steals candy from babies and everything.
so that's good.
there are always problems with sound carrying stage to stage at festivals but you just grin and bare it dont you? its a festival, not festival hall.
5 minutes of fame isn't worth the wasted trip lugging all of your gear across the country for sweet fuck all is it?
a good bit of publicity will cheer them though i see your point.
forgot about ETM offering that, fair play to him. He's having a right old piss about it on his Twitter though
willingly pulled the act on her her behest. I get that she's a main stage act but surely they have no obligation to actually follow her instructions if she's already signed to play.
hope they tell the cunts to stick their invitation to headline up their arse
i'd buy it
except i wouldn't buy it
IS IT A MONSTER? IS IT A MONSTER?
by how lightweight the Secret garden party line up is given it costs the same as Glastonbury.
as Secret Garden Party spends the ticket costs on other things that aren't the line-up? I've never been, but I thought it was more about art-installations and the like.
drugs festivals isnt it? like, do some liquid mdma and have a go at sumo basketball ukelele or some shit?
I HATED it.
He seemed to think it was a compliment
called THE REMIX or something wherein he plays remixes of the usual Xfm playlist? Pretty bad
he's played a remix or two that I've done on that show
he's also played Her Parents on XFM too
so he can't be all bad can he?
he's probably like a 6/10 person but wilykit's dead indie and doens't like people who don't like C86
The first time i listened to Neutral Milk Hotel was after they got back together as well. Please try to temper your white hot indie rage
and the description referred to him as being "Pendulum's tour DJ"
poor ETM :(
I was firmly on Clean Bandit's side in this debate until I heard this lamentable pile of shite:
I mean, they've actually fused classical music with electronic beats! They're true visionaries! How dare anyone throw them off a festival bill!
that really, really, really isn't bad at all. kinda groovy in fact. they're young and have a few cool ideas; can see them becoming quite good
Spektor gave the offical reason that the wind had changed, resulting in "too much bass coming over the hill" from the stage which Clean Bandit were due to perform on at the same time as Spektor was making her appearance on the main stage.
However, it is rumoured that it was actually because the singer was concerned that the band's appearancewould affect the amount of people showing up in her audience.
So it's just shit-stirring for the page hits, yeah? I'd guess the official reason is the right one, although probably she just asked them to do something about the bass and that was their solution.
(Not that I even like Regina Spektor.)
Couldn't the festival just have let Clean Bandit come on halway thorugh Regina's set?
Anyway, the ban will still get paid and a higher slot next year. So that's ok
because it sets the precedent that if someone has a fucking whinge about sound bleed that the bigger act can throw their weight about a bit and chuck another act off the bill. Fuck that
Did she think everyone on site would be stood in respectful silence for the duration of her set apart from the reverent round of applause after each song?
the wind has changed?
bit partisan innit, I doubt the 'rumour' of her being worried about everyone going to watch Clean Bandit is likely to be grounded in fact.
I dunno, I'm sure she's a massive hipster new york dick, but I guess if you're going to book a woman who plays fairly quiet piano music you probably should make sure she's not going to be drowned out, I doubt she asked for them to be axed from the bill, she probably just asked for there not to be loud bass on at the same time as her.
but still, what were the organisers thinking?
they probably just didn't think it through. Seems ridiculous they couldn't have come up with some sort of compromise, though.
It does make them look really really silly though
but without the pressure of really being there for any acts in particular, I think it's a very nice site with lots of quirky things to do... I guess it kind of makes sense, probably more people are after the festival 'experience' these days than actually want to see most bands. I mean, I gather it's full of awful posh people taking awful posh drugs, but that's not to say they're not having fun.
You're despicable, Vine.
lukowski writes book reviews for The MEtro and i read that EVERY DAY. Also i'm sure you said different things
They may have been some sound bleeding from the other stage but they aren't close enough together to have a real impact on her performance.
SGP is very much about having fun and err... the 'party' and Clean Bandit would have taken some of her crowd but perhaps more than usual when you consider most drunk, etc people would want to dance around in the evening and not listen to a woman play sad songs on a piano. I think she bottled it and deliberating forcing festival goers to have less choice on who they watch is the act of a twat - I thought better of her.
However, Clean Bandit were probably gutted on the day but looking at the bigger picture, they've received lots of free promo, been paid, will headline next year and probably to a bigger crowd!
Also, Eddy Temple-Morris is a really good guy and I'm sure he and the other SGP guys would have tried to find a solution before cancelling Clean Bandit.
all the other stages were closed down to prevent sound bleed issues. Cue loads of people having a moan about being "forced" to watch her...
I hope Regina Spektor gets booked for Field Day next year...
rather than just going "You lot, getting ready to go on after lugging all your gear across the country to the arse end of nowhere! Yeah, you who are making just enough money from this gig to cover petrol! Yeah fuck off, you're too loud for Regina Spektor. Good job we didn't even give you a sound check isn't it you worthless shits. Hope you've stolen enough ham butties from catering to make the trip worthwhile"
I'm a big fan of hers and was one of the few that stayed to the end, but when it's the last act of the last night of a festival, and it's late and freezing cold, you want something a bit livelier ... it would have made much more sense for her to have played earlier in the day and for someone else (e.g. Midlake) to have closed - just because you're the biggest act shouldn't necessarily mean that you should play last
Having A Cry about me Having A Cry about RS Having A Cry? Is this what it's come to?
On 'Fake Bloke hat'.
She was probably on the rag or something.
Their fee was probably ok, though not great but I'd be pretty upset about missing out on the performance royalties of playing at a festival with that capacity which would have been a nice wee chunk on top.
who might buy your records/merchandise and come to future gigs
maybe they should sue vagina rectum
her photo at the bottom is unbelievably punchable
I'm not advocating violence against women
i thought no body had realised how awful clean bandit are. my faith was finally restored
