Anyone else going? I've got a spare standing ticket for £50 if anyone wants it
He was bloody great in Newcastle last weekend. Fair bit of new stuff, but it worked very well live, and there's some interesting theatrical stuff at the start and in the background of the show as well. Interesting bit in the mid-section as well, but not going to spoil it for anyone who wants to go in fresh.
Last time I saw him was at primavera 2009 where he did a greatest hits set, so I'm expecting something quite different tonight. Can't wait to see crazy horse!
He's on at 9. 2 hours seems a little mean.
Yes I would!
Happy to take £40 for it.
Would love to go.
Never been to the 02 before but I'm hoping Uncle Neil might have just enough soul to fill up that vacuum.
Should I have a few cheeky drinks beforehand do you reckon, try and limit the damage?
And they managed to fill the soulless void of the O2.
Best bits were Comes A Time and the guitar sound on My, My. Worst bit was the Nationsl Anthem at the start, although it was pretty funny that literally no-one in the audience sang along.
It was epic in Birmingham.
I wept a little.
He played Like A Hurricane in the spot he's usually been playing Cortez on this tour. Would have loved to have heard Cortez but I've wanted to see Hurricane live ever since I got into Neil Young. It was incredible.
I loved the way the stage was set up the same way as Rust Never Sleeps.
I think with Neil Young you have to be prepared to get what he wants to give you, but I came away feeling really happy with the set, I wasn't expecting as many "hits" as that. On top of that, the more recent stuff with the Horse came across really well live.
Was an amazing amazing gig though. Lots of people on tube home seemed to be moaning that he did too much noodling and not enough hits - id they not read the ticket and see it was Neil Young AND CRAZY HORSE?!
The acoustic section was breathtaking. As was the sheer level of distortion on Hey Hey. A lot more hits than I was expecting, and the new ones from Pshychadelic Pill worked really well (especially Ramada Inn). The only lowpoint was a terrible extended jam of Fucking Up, which was probably supposed to be quite funny but was actually a bit dull.
Didn't care for the O2 though, vile place. The band were awesome despite Neil not seeming to be particularly happy. Enjoyed Hey Hey, My My and Everybody Knows This is Nowhere the most.
Everything (apart from the venue, natch) was brilliant!
Neil's guitar sound is sensational. They even played Mr. Soul, a goddamn Buffalo Springfield song!
The only thing that would have made it totally perfect for me was if they'd played Thrasher.
the o2 is shit though. still considering going back to see him there in august, he's not doing anything outdoor in the uk this year is he?
the hyde park show a few years ago was really fucking great, id kill to see him play with crazy horse tho.
He is back on August. I may go again...
i was in a terrible mood going in there, really let the vacuous, money-grabbing nature of the o2 get to me but crazy horse sorted me right out. a couple of Classic Rock mugs shouting 'just play the songs' or whatever but i enjoyed every single moment of it. even enjoyed the near-cringeworthy extended 'fuckin' up'. a couple stood in front of us broke up in a loud, heads-moving-to-block-theview way during the show, i just wish they could have done it somewhere else as it was well distracting (not very sympathetic of me i know but...save it til after the show fer chrissakes).
Was a really annoying couple on the left shouting between songs. Really high pitched drunk bint.
really shrill? "let's ave a fuckin daaarnce! come on everywan! we all paid a lotta money, let's ave some fucken rock an roll!" fuck OFF. you're not watching a fucking covers band and while you're right that we all paid a lot of money, none of us paid to hear you shrieking banalities, so shut the fuck up.
She was shouting during one of the quiet ones as well. The louder ones drowned them up.
The guy was bald, had this top off, had some tatto's and seemed a 'geezer'.
Yeah outdoor type, you were near the same twats!
Yeah they came over where I was in the second half and were really irritating but I managed to not let it get to me too much.
Amazing show, especially the acoustic set and the second half. Sadly he seemed to cut Like A Hurricane short after a roadie/'scientist' showed him a clipboard with a message - I assumed it was because he'd just gone past the curfew and that was the end but then he went on to play 2 more!
Seeing him 2 days after Bruce wasn't ideal as Bruce was just exceptionally good and it was hard not to compare, but Neil & Crazy Horse put on one hell of a show.
breaking up in front of us had the grace and shame to shut up during the acoustic segment as they could tell they were pissing people off. they left after about an hour and a half and got a little cheer from us and those around us.
