"You'll be blessed if you hear a better album of electronic music this year"
(Looks like it'll only be up for another day or so).
is an absolute tune, can't wait to hear the rest.. very Holden esque
Really like it.
Vastly different from his previous work, mind you.
open eye signal especially. the rest, kinda disappointing.
you might be in for a shock. The first half is almost astonishingly hard; super propulsive, hidden nightclub beats and laconic bass the feels like gliding through crowds of dancing people without touching anything. The second half lowers the tempo and a more traditional Jon Hopkins starts to emerge with haunted piano works set to accompany sunset into dusk, that harder electric edge still snarling in the background but giving way to Hopkins' effortless beauty.
I thought it was pretty good on first listen, but was slightly wary that the first half would grow wearisome. It hasn't. It's a really fine album, and one I suspect I'll be listening to for a long time to come.
It's gorgeous, super lush stuff.
As everyone else says, it starts harder than it finishes, but it is all incredibly well crafted
and down into shepherds bush late last night.
open eye signal and immunity are the stand-outs for me
can someone recommend stuff along similar lines?
Reminds me of Orbital too. This is a good thing.
Overall I think the second half of the album is more interesting.
it does remind me of The Field quite a bit. More summery though.
think i'll be putting this on a lot more often than the new BoC :\
but it sounds really excellent. And a bit like Apparat (a very good thing)
really enjoyed it. I agree with the posts above - reminds me of The Field, Gui Boratto, Villalobos, Andy Stott; with a bit more electro oomf, like Vitalic or something.
very great so far on the first go.
a pleasure to drive to work at the moment with this and Boards of Canada to listen to.
such very 'tasteful' piano
its the type of music i try to make but fall way short of ( https://soundcloud.com/ghostletters/scripts ).
just a perfect blend of subtle electronics and glitches. can't really describe it properly
Last night of the Immunity tour apparently, and it's a FRIDAY so I am massively in for this:
Apols if this already has a thread...
