Your most listened to album(s) from the last year?

wonton [Edit] [Delete] 15 replies 17:09, 27 May '13

I have the plural as my last.fm figures won't be accurate (it's been broken most of the time and there's CD plays to consider too) so I can only estimate, and it'll be one of two: Kaputt or Age of Adz. Timeless classics.

  • According to last.fm

Half Man Half Biscuit - Trouble Over Bridgewater
Half Man Half Biscuit - Achtung Bono
    The xx - xx

Went on a bit of a massive HMHB back catalogue binge a few months back and find them good music to listen to when cycling into work, there's a few other of their albums pretty high up. I was late to hop on the xx bandwagon so the period where I obsessively listened to it fell into this year.

  • Frank Ocean just pips Death Grips

Although Vampire Weekend is coming up close behind and it hasn't even been out that long. I'd say give it another week and it will be VW and Daft Punk. Give it a month and it will be The National.

We're talking the last 12 months right, not calendar year.

    • Yeah, so since May 2012

Did you just not listen to anything until recently then?

      • Ha, I can see how it would seem that way...

There's plenty of records that make the top 10 in the interim months but those were the two that had the most plays in the last 12 months according to last.fm.
Similarly, there's about 5 or 6 records that have been played loads so far this year but Vampire Weekend and Daft Punk are towering above them in the stats cos I just can't keep playing the pair of them in the last two weeks.

  • First Aid Kit - Lion's Roar.

    BMS1 | 27 May '13, 17:41 | X
  • probably Heems - Nehru Jackets

not a perfect album or a timeless classic but I listened to it a helluva lot; just one of those things I can put on in ANY mood and it'll always make me happy

  • probably The Thermals - Fuckin A

just rinsed it ever since discovering them last year. New Hot Chip and Chromatics probably not far behind

    orangejuice | 27 May '13, 17:56 | X
  • Probably the last Converge album.

    (checks)

Yup, the last Converge, Paramore albums and pretty much all of Joyce Manor's back catalogue.

  • Last.fm says

Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti – Mature Themes
    Grizzly Bear – Shields
    Animal Collective – Centipede Hz

Surprised at Grizzly Bear. Can't remember last time I put it on. It's one of those albums I can never remember the songs from, but really enjoy it when I listen to it.

  • baroness - yellow & green

took a while to get into, but got hammered pretty hard then revisited red and blue so the whole lot goes on heavy rotation.
    metz and kylesa as well.

  • last.fm says it's these:

    1. Peanut Butter Wolf – Badmeaningood, Vol. 3
    2. Kinny – Can't Kill a Dame With Soul
    3. Boards of Canada – Geogaddi

Which I can only assume means it's broken, as no.1 should definitely be something by New Model Army. Pretty sure I've listened to a few Al Green albums more than I have Geogaddi as well.

  • pretty unexpected

    1. Animal Collective – Centipede Hz
    2. Chance The Rapper – Acid Rap
    3. Lil B – I'm Gay (I'm Happy)

The AC album will be down to listening before their Glasgow gig, and Chance has got there after listening to him for only a few weeks - I imagine Acid Rap will end up as easily on of my most play of 2013 based on that. The National are storming up the charts quickly too

  • Wasn't expecting this top 3...

1: Broadcast - Berberian Sound Studio
    2: Disasterpeace - Fez
3: Hot Chip - In Our Heads

Need that site that reads album scrobbles as averages; both the Broadcast and Disasterpeace albums are soundtracks with 30 tracks or so. I'd have to play Lindstrøm's Smalhans at least 5 times to cover the same track count as either of the above.
