Let's just hope it doesn't turn into a Tina & Ike situation.
a fellow MRA on DiS!
fuck feminism dude *bumps fist*
they're in paramore.
feel sorry for the band that's released one of the best pop.... na one of the best RECORDS this year and feel sorry for the band thats actually making money (and lots of it) from making music.
And then realise how silly your statement is after saying it just because they aren't some pretentious art school band using a vacuum cleaner as it's rhythm section.
fuck off you absolute bellend.
so stop asking
The others are effectively session musicians. Sure they're not that bothered though.
Two of the main band members left a couple of years ago iirc. She's the main draw, probably the main songwriter, and they're way more of a 'manufactured pop group' than a 'rock band' these days.
album is one of the best of the year. Perhaps the best so far.
would they be 'perfect pop' or 'just good pop'?
Tegan And Sara's stuff. Proper tunes, proper haircuts etc.
Before I listen to any major release I like to make sure that its going to be considered by most people a guilty pleasure but one which I will be able to claim to enjoy with no irony based on its merits as "perfect" or "just good" pop.
and the final song is a slice of post rock
Album in a nutshell
It's brilliant. Last Hope is currently my favourite song on the album.
Three tracks in so far. Track 3 appears to be a rejected Avril Lavigne song.
It feels like mid-period Garbage aimed at teenage goth-punks. I don't know what Paramore normally sound like but this is barely worth my time. That said if I was to pick a catchy, poppy guitar record with not a bad song on it, try The Night Marchers' new one, Allez Allez.
Nah, sorry. Just not for me.
just because I want to be able to say I listened to the whole thing when I tell the next person who tells me to listen to it to go swivel.
Well it's a Speedo band, guy was the main dude from Rocket from the Crypt and was also in Drive Like Jehu and Hot Snakes (amongst many others). He runs Swami Records.
She confirmed it and was pretty "YEAH, AND WHAT?" about it. Fair dos.
All the fun, none of the hassle.
Just putting it out there. Don't see the fuss. Plenty of hotter gingers in the world.
WHO NEEDS THEM
let's face it
Are the Paramore fans elsewhere on the internet this pathetic or is it just here?
Whereas the 'just good pop' brigade founds its highground by berating those who dismissed manufactured pop on 'intellectual' music snob criteria, claiming that they were missing this sort of musics appeal, which was its visceral quality or 'catchiness' which is shared by all manufactured pop music since the 60s. Hence 'just good pop'.
This new breed, dissatisfied with the lack of rigour in the 'just good pop' brigage's critique, choose to meta-analyse pop as a genre and subject it to the criteria usually reserved for 'serious' music, whilst also subsuming the 'catchiness' of the 'just good pop' brigades previous heimat into their definitions. Thus the visceral nature of pop itself becomes subject to rigorous, abstract critique.
But at the end of the day they're still all taking bands like paramore seriously, so fuck that.
The committee that writes paramore songs are swimming in infinity-pools filled with an every circulating amount of money, because they've just won capitalism.
Since they forgot to obtain any writing credits.
Just thought they looked a knackered and ashamed in that picture on the front of DiS. Bit defensive, guys x
I don't know what this thread is about.
what am i doing with my life
