the drummer from World Party is better than Chris Corsano, is as far as i got
difficult to scroll through, pictures in weird places, clearly have the wrong picture for a few of them, etc
I can tell you that they haven't included Jason Finn from The Presidents Of The USA or Kurt Dahle from The New Pornographers despite them both being brilliant. They have probably put Kid Millions about 92nd. Dave Grohl will be 8th and the top one will be from a band like Deerhunter.
grohl is number one, and there's lots of pretty leftfield choices like yr new pornos guy
Probably my favourite drummer - always seems to play what is absolutely perfect for the particular song and is one of the funniest performers I have ever seen. I probably haven't heard quite a few of the bands in the list, but if he doesn't deserve to be top 10 on merit I'd be very surprised.
as in, not him
I win then, I guess?
Laurence Colbert should be in there somewhere
drummers in bands they like
tho I guess that was inevitable
it's pretty crazy.
lol fuck off
drumbo, jaki liebezeit, charles hayward, brian chippendale and load other of my favourite drummers, so I guess it's not too bad. the orders all wrong I guess
there's no danny taylor (silver apples) or billy cobham (miles davies, mahavishnu orchestra), but I can't think of many really obvious major ommissions
i'll see myself out
I bet Han Bennink isn't in it
(I couldn't get the page to load)
I have a nagging feeling that they spelled his name wrong but I can't remember where he placed and there's no way I'm attempting to look through the whole list again
Fair enough for including them all but ffs; would struggle to name five better drummers, let alone 74 (and certainly not Mo Tucker or Tommy Ramone either).
Damon Che is blatantly top 10 as well
Brilliant trance master, up there with Liebezeit.
I mean, the order's all wrong, but it's got good people. Kid Millions!
Geek U.S.A. has the best drumming on a song ever. FACT
Putting him just above Tony Allen, Jabo & Stubblefield just feels plain wrong
If I had to add a few more, I'd probably go for:
Carla Azar, Andreas Werliin (from Wildbirds and Peacedrums) and Pascal Nichols (Part Wild Horses Mane On Both Sides)
i was expecting that list to be a lot worse:
Chris Corsano, Greg Saunier, Chris Bear, Brendan Canty, Britt Walford, Klaus Dinger, Bill Ward, Kid Millions, Charles Hayward, Todd Trainer, John McEntire and John Herndon, Jerry Fuchs, Rey Washam, Janet Weiss, Chuck Biscuits, Orestes Morfin, John Stanier, Josh Freese, Jim White, Brann Dailor, Brian Chippendale, Damon Che, Zach Hill, George Hurley, Matt Cameron, Drumbo, Dale Crover, Dave Lombardo, Jaki Liebezeit and Dave Grohl - ignoring the ordering, they'd all be in any list i would have come up with.
i can only think of Seb Thomson, Coady Willis, Kurt Dahle, Georgia Hubley, Emil Amos, Alex Neilson and Jim Eno right now.
Mac McNeilly and Michael Dahlquist. Them too.
He's not prolific enough I guess
is a bitmore than the drummer from world party
check out his history
