i've not really listened to much bar 'Mala' by Banhart, which is obviously great.
Blood Oaths of the New Blues by Wooden Wand is undeniably amazing, James Jackson Toth is a ridiculous songwriter.
Hiss Golden Messenger is obv really nice too.
But not as much as I'd hoped. There's good quality all the way through but somehow it doesn't hang together properly.
My favourite so far is the Anais Mithcell/Jefferson Haimer Child Ballads album, it's gorgeous stuff.
I must have listened to Tam Lin more than any other track so far this year.
it was superb. Can't say I'd heard of him before.
but the new Hawk and A Hacksaw album is really brilliant, incredibly varied and like nothing I've listened to before.
Probably my favourite so far. Muchacho is close though and new album from Sam Amidon is also worth checking out. I'm patiently waiting for new Califone record.
Some might call it drone though, idk. It is one of her more acoustic recordings though.
Nobody can touch him for inventiveness. An absolute master.
closely followed by the new Sam Amidon album. Haven't listened to it enough to know if I like it as much as the last one but still great.
