wot else sounds like them -
Who are their influences?
News on the new album?
Throbbing Gristle/Psychic TV?
factrix, control unit
from the more electronic side of things:
yeah, all of the brilliant industrial-ly stuff mentioned above, would also like to add crash course in science to that list too (at least they sound like them, anyway).
also lots of ny no wave/post disco cross over stuff like peter gordon's love of life orchestra and arthur russell, and maybe liquid liquid, esg, etc.
also plenty of italo disco, girogio moroder being the most notable here (ofc), but also dudes like gaznevada and klein & nbo.
also dancey factory records stuff like a certain ratio and quando quango.
out of the various throbbing gristle projects, chris & cosey are probs the closest to what factory floor do.
also acid house as a whole i guess, although i dunno where i'd start there tbh. maybe check out these soul jazz comps:
also the minimal wave comps:
also this metal dance one on strut:
But you're dead right.
have never really got on with Vasicka's Minimal Wave comps. no idea why
sorry i think i got carried away. nobody should bring up factory floor; i get too excited.
they're just a wonderful collision of al the musical things that i like
The world would be a better place
agreed, although i'm quite glad that they've taken their time. i think they've managed to avoid the fate of a lot of fly-by-night 'buzzbands' as a result.
When Savages, all of whose songs sound exactly like early U2 B-sides, are being touted as new and exciting something has got to change.
What is their best single/EP/whatever?
Takes me right back to living in northern France back in 1988-9, going clubbing in Belgium & hearing all the superb industrial/new beat stuff that was around at the time - Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, A Split Second etc.
