just buy a record and stop messing about!
Pick your battles
there is always some toobox in the way browsing very slowly, not just taking up that one section but about three rows of records. And they often smell bad. I make sure I stay in one row of LPs, flick very quickly and scoot off as soon as I can. And I shower first.
80% of the time I'm buying records I haven't got a specific one in mind and am seeing what there is - there's literally no other way to do that than to flick through the records.
see whats out. if its out and you want it, buy it. and get out.
it is just the odd time when I want one thing or have 5 minutes to browse, someone is right in the way of the section I want to look at. But when I do want a good root through, I do it quicky and don't scatter myself and my stench all over the show.
I usually take ages because there's so much to look at/pick from.
or the stickers some/a lot of records shops put on records recommending them and saying a bit about them?
record shops are as much for discovering music as they are for buying stuff you want. if you just want to buy a record you're interested in due to listening to it/reading about it on the internet why not buy it on the internet? then you never have to leave your house and associate with all these smelly people you hate so much.
I'd love to have such a carefree existence that the amount of time people spend looking round records shops was something that I allowed myself to get worked up about.
