It might be AM 180, but then again it could be Why Took Your Advice.
Everything Beautiful is Far Away
I think I'm going to go with Collective Dreamwish, though. It's gorgeous.
Just about prefer it to The Sophtware Slump these days.
and when I was a lazy teenager it seemed to fit my life perfectly (i.e. shirking, messing about with my guitar, falling in love a fair bit).
Actually, I like them all- even Fambly Cat's got some good songs.
for me. just a really really amazing song where everything comes together so nicely. also it was a real highlight of their set when i saw them last summer at shepherds bush.
<3 Grandaddy <3
I think for The Sophtware Slump it's hard to see past He's Simple He's Dumb...
between Lost On Yer Merry Way and The Warming Sun
Fambly Cat is won by...any one of the 6-minuters, they're all great. Maybe Rear View Mirror
and stepped outside the cave to smoke the cigerette he rolled from rolled up photo papers with pictures of things back on earth.
Wearing my Grandaddy t shirt right now. Oh god best band ever.
My favourite track of said album is probably Everything Beautiful is Far Away or AM 180.
My favourite album of all time is arguably The Sophtware Slump.
My fav track of Sophtware is He's Simple, He's Dumb, He's The Pilot..
For Sumday it's The Warming Sun and for the HIGHLY UNDERRATED Fambly Cat it's probably The Animal World or Rear View Mirror.
fond of go progress chrome as well, Broken down comforter collection, may be partly because it was my first experience, probably remains my fav release though.
thank you for inspiring me to listen to Grandaddy again tomorrow.
For The Dishwasher
S Slump - jed's other people, also by some distance
i was thinking about "Away Birdies With Special Sounds" just the other day - what a heartbreaking vocal
Don't think I've heard many other songs that paint such a vivid image in my mind as I listen to them.
Sophtware has to be He's Simple... but I do have a real soft spot for Broken Household Appliance National Forest, just for that line about owls flying about.
Sumday has to be Now It's On, purely for being the first song that properly got me into Grandaddy, and I haven't listened to Fambly Cat enough to justify me picking something. At least this has given me good inspiration to go back and revisit it tomorrow.
well... i say unreleased but i mean very rare.
Also Static Hum live bootleg is one of the best live albums I've ever heard. <3
Can't understand the love for rear view mirror in my opinion it's one of the dullest and blandest songs (sorry Jason).
Highlights of fambly:
Summer it's gone
Where I'm anymore
That great fitting cover of shangri-la
Western freeway is impossible for me to pick one from as they all flow and glue together like a hazy botched together daydream in the sun; perfect...my favourite bit though is 'sorry............not sorry'.
Granddaddy b-sides are by far their best though:
Xd data 2 - one of the saddest and most beautiful love songs ever
Love their silly songs like moe bandy mountaineers and that one about the sticky boombox
Best granddaddy song over all though? Has to be lava kiss, there's a chord change on there that is actually divinely spiritual to me and I've never heard it used to such good effect anywhere else
Wives of Farmers, Street Bunny, Hawaiian Island Wrangers (espesh the John Peel 97 version), Wonder Why In L.A, What Can't Be Erased, In the Mall in Klammoth Falls and the Just Like the Fambly Cassette version of Skateboarding saved me twice.
