Hmmm...bit auto-pilot. Not bad, but it's hardly a French Navy or Lloyd, I'm Ready To Be Heartbroken. Still hoping it'll be a good album as a whole though.
but it's only good because they've written good songs before. It's Camera Obscura by numbers. It sounds like the best bits from their best songs, but because it doesn't feel new or original, I just don't buy it.
I'm sorry - I love some Camera Obscura songs, but this isn't pushing my buttons.
Just glad to have 'em back. Does sound like it's destined to be on an advert for a furniture shop or something though. Oh well. As Tracy Anne said when they got heckled at a gig for flogging Country Mile to Tescos (was it?) "If we didn't sell that song to Tesco we'd have to work there". Great band.
I guess they're the most successful of that school of 2001 UK indiepop bands that John Peel championed, and that I have particular fond memories of - Bearsuit, Saloon, Ballboy, Tompaulin, Melys et al. I'm no longer at the stage of buying their 7" and CD singles but would like to see them live again. And 'Suspended From Class' remains one of the great album openers.
.
I'm a bit underwhelmed. Maybe it is a grower though.
Sounds like you were ready to be heartbroken
that is terrible
I'm a tad underwhelmed too
This is ace

Heard it last night

Why do I get a feeling camera obscura are going to be the third crushing disappointment for me this year :(
Camera Obscura by numbers is alright with me

``Taken from the album 'Desire Lines'...``
Wonder if they're aware of the Deerhunter song?
I'm glad they're still around and it's a pleasant enough pop song.

Fifth in line to the throne is Princess Beatrice
Not sure what that means to the song but there you go anyway!
