Anyone watching? So far pretty average, but still early.
Metric were really good. Beach House were surprisingly dreadful. Dunno if they're just knackered or something.
are festival sets usually this shit and I'm just too mashed to notice?
Try and bare in mind that the person mixing the shows for broadcast is not the same person mixing for the crowd.
In very rare circumstances, if a band has the money or has thought ahead to employ someone else to mix for broadcast, then they are the mixes that sound great. for most bands, they are at the mercy of a fat guy in a van behind the stage who has never heard the band before and is just doing his best with the feeds he is given... hence why vocals generally always sound very dry.
So far only Float On has been uploaded and I'm all like 'you got to be fucking kidding me'
pretty rude, R
seems way better live than on record
the only real crowd excitement i've seen was during passion pit, when they played sleepyhead.
sad to see blur's live set seemingly lost on our friends across the pond
Think the performances have been good though. Sat and watched Grizzly Bear, Hot Chip, Postal Service, The XX and Phoenix this afternoon.
Phoenix sound like someone's just put their cd on, like its all so note perfect I suspect foul play.
singing over a vocal backing track at a lot of points. I love Phoenix but there was definitely a lot of pre-recorded stuff going on all over it.
Was starting to think I was hearing things!
can only image how unenthusiastic they are
i got da no pussy blues
