seats for this show tomorrow morning. Looking forward to it. Sorry for the repeat replies.
Are you a member of the Barbican?
For me, Yip/Jump Music is untouchable.
but probably Hotel Engel by DJ Ötzi
here is the event poster - http://postimg.org/image/ucvkpzlon/
first wave of special guests to be announced tomorrow
They might have advanced notice on who the special guests might be.
but I'm a member of The Barbican. I've got a card and everything.
Do you mean you know someone who is a member of the Barbican or that you are one yourself?
Did you say you remember Barbie and Ken?
at The Barbie and Ken. Has anyone seen Daniel Johnston before? Any good live?
Depends a lot on the backing band (or lack thereof).
It was used as closing credits in an episode of Girls.
And it's my birthday as well!
If only there was someone who was a member..
Emmy The Great
Norman Blake of Teenage Fanclub
Many of the good tickets have gone already. Seems very popular.
Are you a member or something?
At the moment, I have a spare. If anyone is also a billy no mates and wants a great seat let me know.
I'll take that ticket.
If you're a huge fan you may as well just your own ticket in case the spare won't be available.
I'll pick up a ticket tomorrow morning hopefully.
I haven't seen him play for years. Perhaps since that great night at the indigo2 with Mark Linkous.
Willy Mason, Glen Hansard (The Frames / The Swell Season), Tom Fleming (Wild Beasts)
still more to be announced
It's me, the member. (Please feel free to poke fun. I can take it!) I've got a spare for the the front stalls if anyone is interested. A very good seat. The gig's a few weeks away. Anyone fancy the ticket?
You can get me a drink at the extortionately priced bar. No chancers or newbies to DiS with ten posts etc. though please. I'd like it to go to a regular DiS user.
You seem like a fun guy with an impeccable taste in tunes. I don't like Daniel Johnston though. I miss all the gigs I want to go to by not being a proper gig hound like your esteemed self. PM me, let's do this!
From the guests play the album, to the guests playing their favourite songs. And it used to say more coming and now it doesn't?
Anyway it's a solid lineup as it stands, really solid. I'm really excited.
wonder why the change?
Im very excited.
Thought Norman Blake's Story Of An Artist was great and Jeffrey Lewis as well was ace. Couldn't catch the name of the guy who did Devil Town but that was also fun.
Also loved the Space Ducks mixup.
The True Love finale could've been done a lot better though.
Yeah, the finale was weird but Daniel's timing is often questionable and everyone else was trying to follow his lead. The guy who did Devil Town was Glen Hansard by the way .Everything was enjoyable but I thought Emmy The Great's set was a total mess.
I heard a lot of people moaning about Emmy The Great, but I enjoyed it myself. What was so bad about it? Plus, Emmy is, y'know, really quite fit.
Glen Hansard, Jeffrey Lewis and Norman Blake were superb. Loved Do You Really Love Me in Daniel's set.
Quite weird that it was billed as a celebration of Hi How Are You but from that album, only Walking The Cow got an airing all night. Can't complain with this setlist though:
The Wave Pictures:
My Life Is Starting Over Again
Story Of An Artist
Emmy The Great:
Rock 'N' Roll/Ega
I Did Acid With Caroline
Danny Don't Rapp
Some Things Last A Long Time
Life In Vain
Walking The Cow
Do You Really Love Me
Casper The Friendly Ghost
True Love Will Find You In The End
were from Yip / Jump Music which is also 30 years old so should've just changed it to that.
enjoyed this so bloody much.
that set of songs
not many songwriters could say they have written so many good songs
Daniel Johnston was alright.
