1. Raw Power - Iggy & the Stooges
I hesitate to include this record, except that it's so thoroughly punk rock that it'd be a disservice to mankind not to. It's the very 10/10 definition of punk rock.
2. Never Mind the Bollocks - Sex Pistols
It's the record an old-timer like me first thinks of as punk rock. And for good reason.
3. The Clash - The Clash
Sure, the Clash evolved beyond the boundaries of pure punk, but that only speaks to the talent of the musicians involved.
4. Los Angeles - X
There's no mistaking the rockabilly influence, but this ain't the Stray Cats. 'Johnny Hit and Run Pauline' isn't just a great punk rock song, it's one of the best songs ever.
5. Post-Nothing - Japandroids
Just nicking 'Damned Damned Damned' and the only modern record to make my list, it might have placed higher if the 'Art Czars' single had been included.
Honorable mention to the Damned (all of them), Wire's Pink Flag, the Ramones' Rocket to Russia, and if I were inclined to include the Buzzcocks' Singles Going Steady, that record would have no doubt been in my top 5.
