please make another record-
I would also like to request that said record is not a soundtrack and just an album in its own right, if I may.
USA Boys is one of my favourite tracks of the last ten years, yet still no proper follow up after its change in direction.
Saw them at Jericho in Oxford a couple of years ago, and the drummer looked phenomenally bored whilst playing any new tracks. Hoping they stay together long enough to get it released!
still rocked though - probably burnt out
I saw was because HEALTH supported and merked shit up.
Also, I won't hear a bad word said about the Max Payne OST it was great, so great that I can forgive the tacked on rap track at the end (9 CIRCULOS)
Tickets on sale Friday.
That OST was great, granted, though part of its strength was how well it worked as a soundtrack. I'm hungry for an album proper!
Please play a proper venue. I love you too much to see you in a place like that.
I even refused to see Hookworms there last week and I love Hookworms.
I've never been, and am keen to go to this gig.
Gets faintingly hot for summer gigs (though that's not a problem at the moment).
Because they have some good gigs coming up.
Think I might go anyway though, as I've never seen them, and have recently become obsessed with their second album.
and as it's HEALTH, I'll still be going
I vowed I wouldn't go back. It is comfortably one of the worst venues in London, for the reasons you mentioned above.
Backtracking within a week wasn't really in my plans.
Guardian Alien, Big Naturals and Death Pedals:
WOAH WOAH WOAH
If there's ever a Max Payne 4, please compose the score for it.
Hi. Are you out there? Make another record, goddamit.
otherwise the band won't find it and change all of their plans to placate you!
I'll hang fire to see if a Manchester date gets announced.
what the fuck HEALTH, we haven't got all year
nearly five years without a proper record!
was new material sounding fucking ace, I'm hugely impatient for this release.
Just this in the meantime: http://open.spotify.com/track/72RPn7RFZQmZD5FEgfHxp3
they said a new record is finally on its way in 2014!
whole amazing genres of music and artsist have come and gone in the time its taking them to make another one. Burial has had 8 releases since the last album and people call him slow. Half a decade! Hope people still care.
prevents me getting sick of them, as I often do if they release a load of stuff in quick succession
i would wholeheartedly recommend last year's record from yvette, called process. i would start a thread about it, however i doubt anyone would pay much attention. i think it is available on spotify.
what's the best song from it, via youtube?
But I think Yvette is much more abrasive and a thousand times better.
aside from what's on spotify.
there's the first track on soundcloud:
and the last one on youtube
my favourites however are holding nothing, cuts me in half and mirrored walls. its kinda like a touch more 'industrial' health.
Haxan Cloak has pretty much confirmed an impending release
guess it was reference potentially to the epic max payne score
HOLY FUCKING SHIT NEW FUCKING HEALTH (potentially)
having never seen it before - think it may be a bit of a piss take.
It's one of those funny shows
made me laugh.
Besides the ones opening for Interpol?
Disappointment. Not at the preview but at that shitty programme.
My only concern would be if they go too far into the poppy territory, but hopefully The Haxan Cloak presence will keep it eligible for splendid1's Dark Music thread (like El-P).
But what the hell, here's a new interview. They've finished the album!
zero detail on the actual album
We're very excited to announce an exclusive artist presale to celebrate the grand return of HEALTH!
They'll be playing a very special one-off UK show at The Dome, in Tufnell Park on June 9th, in support of their brand new record, DEATH MAGIC. Check out the video for "NEW COKE" here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3_dedjucgM&feature=youtu.be
Limited tickets will be available through Songkick this Monday 27th April at 9am - be sure to grab your tickets before anyone else.
It'll probably have leaked by the end of May at this rate
Let's see how it sounds tonight.
can imagine it'd be great live though
Glasgow (26th, Stereo, the day after Battles!), Manchester (27th, Gorilla) and London (28th, Heaven).
Plus Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Paris.
Really looking forward to this, especially since I missed them last month.
The question is - will the new album be out by then??
U-huh. Stereo gig booked just now. I r excite.
Haven't seen them since the Chrome Hoof show at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
...but really enjoying all three tracks from this now. Totally won over, so excited to hear the rest of it!
HOLY SHIT. That new song. wow.
- There are many, many moments of ohmyfuckinggod.
- It is loud.
- It will destroy absolutely everything live.
- Is there a band with a better sonic aesthetic?
- Vocals are consistently just a bit too high in the mix.* And they sometimes sound a bit like the dude from Charlie the Unicorn...
*Fully expect i'll change my mind about this with a few more listens.
Rating - 8.6
Does that mean it'll be in the shops that day or Friday idk
Could be entirely wrong.
Health are one of those bands I really want to like, but there's something about them feels like they should be much better than they are.
the middle-ing reviews or even negative reviews for this. A lot of them focus on how it's not old HEALTH rather than this great progression, which they'd hinted at for ages.
I think it's bloody fantastic
Not sure why everyone is so shocked.
it sounds good to me
there are couple of things coming out, but i haven't had an album on rotation like this for absolutely ages
He shouldn't really review it.
I think this album would be different to ears that have not been with HEALTH from the start though.
i gave it 9 for LOBF. it's great for many reasons
This album is so much fun. Really enjoying it.
25/10 Liverpool - Kazimier - Liverpool Music Week
26/10 Glasgow - Stereo
27/10 Manchester - Gorilla
28/10 London - Heaven
And at first I was, like, WTF?!? And then I was, like, no this is really good!! And then LA Looks came on and i was all like WTF?!? again.
I find the whole 'we are cool and edgy' vibe I get from there videos, track titles etc to be a bit off putting. Good music though.
Would have liked the new album so much more if it was called "nice sit down on the sofa"
I think he was a bit distracted while I was talking to him. Story of my life.
I love their instrumentation but the singer just sounds like Owl City to me.
This is mainly my line of thinking. Will see how things pan out live...
Brilliant brilliant brilliant. I'm upping my rating to 9.9
Sounds like Owl City are a big influence. Where to start with them?
I'm unfamiliar with their other tunes though, and would also be interested in howbthis subthread turns out.
and it appears they've done five albums and they're all on spotify?!? I think I'm in for a treat here. Why have I never heard of this band before?
I recommend seeing them on this tour!
Been years since I've seen them.
They were intense at Simple Things on Saturday. I'm looking forward to a full set.
they are just a force live
Best encore ever, too.
Easily my gig of the year thus far! Amazing live. Anyone have a setlist from their current tour?
quite impressed at how they managed to work in material from all of their albums, without the set coming across as disjointed at any point.
Great career spanning set and fantastic encore.
Took my mate who'd never heard them before and he was equally impressed.
They're an incredible live band. I was also very impressed with the sound in Heaven.
I also took a friend who had never heard them before and doesn't listen to much of that kind of music, and he loved it as well.
