i like it, but it doesn't seem to have the gravitas of its predecessors.
and yet i'm far more likely to stick it on than any of the others
not being quite such a serious undertaking isn't such a bad thing
i'm still digesting it though, prolly played it < 10 times
apart from the fart noises, obvs.
Tilt was a deadly serious, intense record. He injected a little bit of humour on The Drift, got away with it, and I think this time he's taking the piss, seeing just how far on the journey up his own arse the critics will follow him. And the answer is, all the way. Weakest of the "trilogy", if that's what it is. Love Epizootics though, and hope he explores that particular direction on the next record.
Weakest of the last three. Tilt is the best. I still think there's a lot to like about it but I've not listened to it much. The songs often feel a bit novelty, what with the voices he puts on and the way the music literally apes the lyrics a lot of the time. He says the next album will be different from the last three. I hope also that he pursues that wonderful sound and groove of Epizootics! and makes some kind of art-pop album.
haven't listened to it in full but the clips i've heard are nigh-on unlistenable
After 3 months with Bish Bosch, though, IMO it beats The Drift.
Easily in my Top 5 of 2012, if not no.1.
Standout track: Zercon, obv.
Haven't listened to it in a while, I'll stick it on now.
but anyway if you like pretending to enjoy this album then good for you, that's what i say
