Line-up to be announce tonight!
Who do you hope will be playing?
p.s. sorry that I had to take down the line-up leak.
This makes me very sad that I'm not going.
Surely they will play other shows as well. Would be a bit of an insult to their fans if they only played at a hipster snoozefest.
One of the most unsettling and uncomfortable atmospheres I've ever experienced at a festival.
Ok, snoozefest is the wrong word actually. The line-up is mostly a snoozefest, the actual festival environment is more like 28 Days Later with drunk teenagers rather than zombies.
Anyway, having just seen the press release it is their only UK shows of 2013 so that sucks.
Never got the hate atmosphere wise.
you have to go elsewhere I think to actually appreciate it
a man on top of a cherry picker, rocking it from side to side to try and fall it - and him - into a burning block of portaloos was, yeah, kinda scary.
to ward off drunk twats trying to pull his tent (with his girlfriend still inside it) onto a bonfire.
I'd recommend the last night of the Leeds festival to anyone who still has a bit of faith in humanity they'd like to get rid of.
If the PR company were so stupid to have put the release up on their website before it was meant to be announced, then they deserve to be sacked and for people on the internet to freely discuss the contents.
No-one who reads DiS really cares that Green Day are headlining and New Found Glory are playing one of their albums in full. But it does stimulate debate, so should be left as an uncensored topic on the DiS message board.
I'd love to run DiS as some renegade FUCK EVERYONE enterprise, but the folks who doing Reading, also do Latitude, whom we're partners with, and unless I want to get all of our writers and photographers blacklisted from both festivals simply for standing my ground on principle that ALL INFORMATION WANTS TO BE FREE or whatever, then yeah, I can do that, but it isn't particularly wise.
Seems petty and needless to leave something up in the public domain when it's going to be announced in a few hours anyway.
I mean, it's not like these boards are particularly censored. It's pretty much anything goes 99.9% of the time. I think I've only deleted about 5 things in the 13 years DiS has been going due to a PR request.
The people who read it, read it. I wasn't going to go through legal action for the sake of keeping up a thread that was 2 years old. Ditto Water Rats stuff.
So that leak was true. Thanks for confirming!
Why the fuck are the Lumineers fourth on the main stage?! They have one (shit) song!
Think I'd pick End of the Road Fest instead
I thought they died out with myspace.
Just think how bad it'll be in 20 years time when all the parents are going to their kids "You lot don't know you're born. In my day we had proper music and great times like the Kooks, CSS and Preston from the Ordinary Boys' solo song, Lonely at the Top. And there was this brilliant thing called Myspace where people were really honest about their intentions - it was a bastion of macho values"
just to shake things up a little.
Lumineers so high, Hadouken/White Lies on the main stage etc. Ah well, I'm not going. If I was, most of the bands I'd watch would clash by the looks of it.
Or are we in the Chillis-Eminem-Roses year?
Can't remember which one is odd-numbered years.
yeah fuck off
it might be worth leaving yr bedroom every once in a while
I think the the last time I went they had five? Main, Radio 1, Carling, Lock Up/Dance combined, that one that had all the comedians and the hypnotic dog every year.
have they massively re-arranged / expanded the site? 'cause I can't work out where they'd put them all.
it's one of my favourite places to watch music, especially recently, with all the space at the back, but i can imagine they view that at wasted space.
never seen Green Day before, and Major Lazer into A$AP would be pretty fun
For the day ticket market surely this works much better:
GREEN DAY / NIN / FALL OUT BOY / FRANK / LUMINEERS / NFG
EMINEM / C&S / FOALS / WHITE LIES / LUMINEERS / HADOUKEN
BIFFY / SOAD / DEFTONES / EDITORS / BRAND NEW / TWIN
Not that they rely on day tickets obv, but still looks very random atm
Put BMTH in instead of Brand New and Brand New instead of Lumineers on the Friday.
Quite. Due to different set lengths, third from second stage generally clashes with second from top main stage
That should please a few DiS types. Unless its no surprise
It says on the Reading/Leeds lineup that a new album in on the horizon! Hope that's true. Feels like Daisy was released an age ago, way longer than four years, anyway.
I meant website, not lineup.
... that happens to visit Glasgow!
Does this mean I get to post Mike Patton singing through a mask again?! I think it does.
if I was 15 and into a mish-mash of high-octane electronic/rap music, the run of Major Lazer > A$AP > Skrillex would be fucking immense
now it's 90 quid for a DAY. christ alive. Do kids these days have that much more money?
Was really expecting QOTSA and Yeah Yeah Yeahs to be up there which would’ve been great. I guess QOTSA are tied into a contract with Download, and maybe YYYs will get added after their UK dates.
I'm not sure what there is to gain from seeing Eminem in 2013, mind.
Other than the fact that Hadouken! must be a wind-up.
That boys a Hoxton Hero,
skinny fit jeans and dressed in pink,
how he dresses I care zero,
as long as he don't steal my drink.
That girls an Indie Cindy,
Lego haircut and polka-dot dress,
I don't care if she thinks she's indie,
how she's different is anyones guess.
You've got you skin tights, colours on the floor,
with all your white lines, every slut and whore,
all the band boys in your specs and sneakers,
we got your back, now its time to blow the speaker,
I went to a rave and it got real moody,
how can a screwface have a good time?
Was he deprived of his mothers boobie?
I doubt he's lived a life of grime,
I went to a gig but nobody danced,
Everybody was far too cool,
all the kiddies they just stood there,
Is it the same at their public school?
I stay hard like metal,
you could never merk me,
dirty like skettle,
I kill germs like dettol,
but I will never settle.
I'm an indie limey,
yeah but i like it grimey,
and i rave with a grin,
I'm not too cool for the next big thing,
I dont wanna f**k about,
I wanna good time and thats why I'm out,
and you look silly,
When you put on your best myspace pout
I bought a day ticket as soon as I saw Green Day, System of a Down and Deftones leading the main stage charge - that was enough for me to part with my money (although I was shocked at the price to go for just one day - double it and you get 5 days at Download!)
Fair play for getting Eminem involved - not massively my cup of tea but he'll be a good crowd puller and its not like he constantly tours at this moment?
Biffy above NIN - In the past I'd have the same reaction as some of those above but it's because we're thinking purely on some sort of musical hierarchy platform. Unfortunately, as it seems to me, NIN aren't much of an on-going concern for people outside their hardcore fan base? They haven't released new songs into the mainstream etc for a while and Trent has been keeping his head down. Biffy, on the other hand, are very 'current' and the festival is in England - go figure. I would like them to play 'Blackened Skies' in its entirety...but it's great to see NIN on the bill in any case, go enjoy them.
Not a major surprise to see Hadouken on the main stage either this year - they are now signed to Ministry of Sound and are due to release a new album pretty much now. I'm sure there has been a bit of 'push' to get them up there.
it looks like a fun weekend, don't think I'll ever do Reading again though, simply do not have the stamina for 'that' crowd
