on first listen, ah fuck it...
We were asked not to post it on DiS until 3pm
i did wonder where the DiS stream was after you'd mentioned it on friday...
Some nonsense known as a UK exclusive!? On the Internet!?
album via a KCRW link together with my post about the new Suede album stream.
Marks out of 10?
It's a 9/10 for me. Possibly my second favourite LOW album.
i'd say 6. least favourite. hasn't grown on me at all, unfortunately. too much meandering, too much filler.
....better than the last album, probably not as good as any of the others. Will stick with it.
Wish they'd go weird and do another Drums and Guns experiment.
On my own is superb as well!
I hate saying that because they're in my top 5 bands of all time but something just doesn't seem right. I keep hearing their newer stuff as worse retreads of ideas/melodies from their previous albums...I guess that's inevitable with the style they go for. Still good though, sorta 7/10 from me.

After 5 listens, I think it's largely pretty average. But I only own 4 Low records so am hardly an expert on the band.
I didn't rate Drums n guns or Cmon at first either and now love both.
Out of interest, how many Low albums do you need to own to be an expert on the band? I naively thought 4 would be enough to qualify this, or is it a ratio against the number of releases?
I've no idea, all I meant was I got into Low late and so can't really say how it sits in the larger scheme of their back catalogue.
Got Drums and guns to review at a time when I probably wasn't ready for it (quite like it now), adore Cmon then recently got this (ok) and Things lost... (good but still growing on me).
pretty much the exact trajectory I had. I always feel sheepish when people slag off Cmon, being the one that got me into them.
Longer term fans seem to think they've lost a bit of something on the past 3 releases it seems. Having mostly only owned that material myself, I love it and actually struggle a bit to get so excited about the older stuff.
