science fictiony music in here
I'm listening to 'Lunatic Harness' by µ-ziq, which as we all know is well science fictiony:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoVko6wozew
real aliens, proper biomechs with lazer cannons. some proper space station-based carnage, right there.
I think we'd all much rather be space adventurers, infiltrating murky interstellar trade freighters to lazer-hussle some freak from the radioactive
wastelands of some backwater twat planet for the energy crystal it stole from our ship.
what would soundtrack your gritty, neon space travails, though?

bonus points for depiction of space adventures
And now, a hardcore band's take on alien abduction:

That song is how I learned about Whitley Strieber's Communion.
Saw Logan's Run for the first time the other day
The soundtrack was something special
Something ultra-lounge-y
That retro, essentially backward/forward looking music would put a smile on my face while I'm careening through the cosmos.
Joe Meek & Blue Men - i hear a new world
this one is magic
also Les Paul's spectral pop music experiments from the 50s.

he defo sounds like some kind of deep space funk adventure.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJw0dy6OVPA
I was going to post some SDC
excellent.
his music would sound spacey even without the space themes. something about twinkly stars against deep blackness.
Can't beat Kuedo for this:

It's like bladerunner trapstep

Have you seen/heard his Boiler Room mix? It's cracking!
can't remember I'll have to dig it out
I saw him live last year at a festival he was awsome. Seen him way back as Jamie Vex'd too when he was playing more dubstep and colourful synth stuff alongside the hip-hop, that was so damn good. He's a legend.
sounds like someone being attacked by a tin foil wasp
that would be a quality ummm...
Bee movie.

Actress - Voodoo Posse Chronic Illusion
http://vimeo.com/56965424
Sounds like you're stoned on a malfunctioning space ship.
DJ Rashad & DJ Spinn - We Trippy Mane
http://youtu.be/Qhqa2KrYngU
Sounds like the party with your homies that led you to spill all the drinks on the console in the first place leading to you all getting paranoid and stoned in the cargo bay while the space ship disintergrates around you to the sound of that Actress track.
:D
sterling work, Jimi.
"Young Mother" from Canada
have loads of great sci-fi ingredients on their album "Future Classics." The perfect soundtrack for driving one's hover-hearse into the sun: http://youngmother.bandcamp.com/track/no-straight-lines
only link I could find (OPN - Explain)
http://vimeo.com/m/31942184
synths are pretty essential for spacey music, I guess. vocals give it a floating in a spacesuit, breathing slowly as you run out of oxygen kind of vibe.
Bandshell - Landfill
http://vimeo.com/52588988
Sounds like aliens zapping a lazer beam at an industrial fasility, landing and punching all the humans in the face.
Sun Ra - Space is the Place
The album is fantastic, the film is very trippy. Sun Ra returns to earth to take the black people to Jupiter.

I love that one, anyway. great synths.
they're all pretty diffrent
he has this live trombone thing going on which is kinda fun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mubv1Mezrc8 I dunno I can't remember much more about his other albums they didn't hit me like Reeling Skullways. He has soem singles that are on that kind of tip tho: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1J7_BxBeLw / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RleRdbISDQ they're on more of a rave tip than a spacerave tip.
Why hasn't there been a sci-fi recklessly party in space film?
So much ace dance and hip-hop is so spacy its unreal.
in space, everyone's a lightweight
there's your tagline, right there.
It could be like Wall-E
A malfunctioning wikipedia bot from the 90s is stumbling around a forgoten planet sifting through garbage to a soundtrack of Groove Armada (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-uztVX6QFQ). Gets beamed up onto a neon party ship from the future, gets so confused by the sights and sounds, accidently spills a drink on the console for the hyperspace uplink copasitor and we get flung thru space so quick that we all disintergrate and die to the sound of Rustie Zig Zag.

does anyone remember a band who i think dressed up as scientists
and played surf punk with lyrics about the future? 6/7 years ago, maybe based in manchester, def gigged there a few times? they had a big feature in high voltage magazine one time.
man or astroman?
fits some of that description, not all though
nah, they weren't that famous
cheers though.
joe meek or hawkwind
someones probably said them already though.
i do remember a weird old school hip hop record my friend loved.justin warfield - my field trip to planet nine.
