Bert Jansch/Folk recommendations
So I've recently been listening to a lot of folk music mainly due to the fantastic Anais Mitchell and Beth Orton albums released last year and heard a few Bert Jansch songs.
I'm planning on just going through his discography from front to back but what are his *essential* albums that I should listen to straight away.
Also if anyone has any other artists I should explore that would be cool as well.

Rosemary Lane
is my favourite. Hypnotic stuff.

Also recommend Nic Jones' album Penguin Eggs - more accordion and verges on cheese but great folk voice and kills on geet like Jansch. And Richard Thompson, generally more folk-rock but his solo record Henry The Human Fly is predominantly acoustic and absolutely wizard

some great scots/irish folk are the dubliners/corries/wolfetones.
quite different to people like bert jansch, still great though
in terms of stuff contemporary of early bert jansch
davy graham's probably my number one pick
his albums 'large as life and twice as natural' as well as 'folk, blues and beyond' are pretty perfect.
jackson c. frank's first album is great too.
for newer stuff, the reason i got into all of the above as well as jansch was graham coxon from blur's 2009 album 'the spinning top' which is pretty steeped in that whole tradition.
Yeah I love that Coxon album
I think I meant investigate more folky stuff as a result of that but kinda forgot or something but they sound like suggestions thanks.
Well if you like Anais' stuff
I'd suggest seeking out some Meg Baird and Marissa Nadler.
Love Marissa Nadler's last two albums need to listen to others soon.
Also just listened to a couple of Meg Baird songs on youtube, she's definitely on the list of people to listen to more. Just been jotting down the artists I'm going to investigate, its now about as long as my arm!
Oh and I meant to also say
from a British perspetive Karine Polwart is one of the best things in folk right now.
Meg Baird's Dear Companion is pretty wonderful
