Who are the best singles artists?
As a spin off to my bluer thread, I want to ask you guys who you think are the best singles artists.
As I've said before, of the last 20 years, I think Blur are the best singles band/artist.
However, of the last 5/6 years, that accolade definitely goes to Rihanna.

You probably need to set a 30 year starting point.
You give 20 years for the artist to go out of fashion and then come back in again and then another 10 years for that second wave to pass.
So no singles released after 1983. Now find that band.
(It's probably Queen or something.)

Hot chip do have amazing singles
But best? I'm not so sure?
well yeah obviously theyre not touching blur but
i cant think of any bands with this much consistency that have come up in the 21st century. listened to that cribs compilation yesterday actually and theyre pretty formidable.
i guess the smiths are up there in terms of all time.
Could The Beatles or The Stones get a good look in here?
If you judge people on their singles collections
New Order's Substance is probably the best singles collection of all time
Madonna's Immaculate Collection is pretty unimpeachable
Standing on the Beach, Staring at the Sea by The Cure is amazing, and Galore is great (the 2001 Greatest Hits album is rubbish, though)
The Smashing Pumpkins best of is a really great listen, such a different character to the individual albums.
Bon Jovi's Crossroads is pretty mint
Prince maybe?
