The Late Night Last Chance Saloon FM Thread
Keepin' it smooth from dusk 'til dawn. My chart definitely has a late night vibe this week, coincidentally.
1) Boduf Songs 62
2) Sun City Girls 32
3) Colin Stetson 30
4) Lungfish 29
5) Om 26
6) Madlib 25
7) Art Ensemble Of Chicago 24
8) Tim Hecker 21
9) Gang Gang Dance 17
10) Main Attrakionz 16
1) This is the new record which I really didn't like and now I really do like. The clean vocals and more overt electronics are so jarring at first, but it works. Also, some serious guitar shredding in certain places. So yeah, stick with it, it's a good'un.
2) I basically play pick my favourite SCG album title once a week and listen to it. 330,003 Crossdressers From Beyond The Rig Veda wins quite a lot. They recently reissued loads of out of print SCG stuff digitally for those of you not in the know. Go get.
3) D-3 Haven't been this excited about a concert in ages. Stetson and Branca!
4) I thought I hadn't listened to Lungfish in too long, so I decided to listen to Lungfish. WAAAAAILING LAAAIIIIIKE DRAAAAAGOOOONS.
9) Yo, remember when Gang Gang Dance had Tinchy Stryder as a guest on their album? Maybe they should get Taio Cruz for their next record. Would personally love that.

Really low play counts this week
1. Houdan the Mystic - 25
2. Pseudo Nippon - 21
3. Mount Eerie - 16
4. Colour - 13
5. Hans Swarovsky/Grosses Symphonieorchster - 13
6. Arcade Fire - 12
= Max Richter
= Titus Andronicus
= Foals
= High Aura'd
7. Joanna Newsom - 11
= Panda Bear
8. Battles - 10
= Panopticon
= Wavves
1. Super nice folky math-rock & it's free on bandcamp.
6d. High Aura'd's Sanguine Futures is probably my favourite ambient record of the last few years. It's sublime; every time I listen to it I immediately go into a trance.
7. Sad news that she's getting married - I was still holding out hope.
8b. If you're at all into black metal I urge you to get Panopticon's Kentucky. It's a sort of concept album about coal-mining in Kentucky and how shitty the coal companies were/are. It's fantasic. Appalachian folk and banjo hoedowns interspersed throughout a fucking killer black metal record.
Re: Joanna
don't worry mate, at least you won't have to listen to her practice screaming like a cat while pawing her harp every sunday morning and then tell her that ' it sounds wonderful, honey' whilst sticking your breakfast cheerios in your ears to drown out the din
;)
Panopticon sounds interesting. And not just because of the ISIS name. Will check that out.
I think the last.fm thread has finally died.
The last.fm thread is dead, long live the last.fm. thread
I blame the combination of new itunes and new last fm scrobbler
they won't scrobble my ipod, keep crashing when I try reinstalling. it's all a bit banjaxed. I'll be in when I have something to report. A weekly play count of 12 Blur songs is not interesting thread fodder.
That aside, these threads do seem to be winding down. Gone are those heady days of 20+ replies.
Let's try a 'what have you been listening to this week' thread
With optional last.fm stats
We used to hit the fifties, even the triple figures
Those halcyon days
but there needs to be a Sunday last.fm pun thread
maybe the last.fm thread should welcome people without stats. we need to make up the numbers.
