COWTOWN
due to a random connection on Soundcloud that lead me to a track called Monotone Face I am now very curious about this band
of course bandcamp is currently not playing properly so I can't listen to all of this right now
http://cowtown.bandcamp.com/
but anyway, this is their 3rd LP and they're from Leeds - beyond that I don't know anything about them so
Can DiS tell me about Cowtown please?

basically I want to know if any of them post on here
because I want to put Monotone Face on my DiS podcast
bandcamp is working again now
this LP is GREAT
I've seen them quiet a bit
they're pretty damn good. There was a time when you'd go t oa gig in Leeds and they'd pretty much always be one of the suport acts. It'd be them or Two Minute Noodles or The Dragon Rapide or Bilge Pump. I think they where all assosiated in some way with Chinchilla Tone a label/collective at the time, but I don't know if that exists anymore. But yeah they where always really good, fun and interesting.
I saw them in 2008 supporting Ponytail and they were amazing
the singer from Hookworms recorded their new LP and has been going on about great it is, so I'm really looking forward to hearing it.
PLUS: properly nice to see a British band of their ilk last more than three or four years and two records.
Their new LP is what I've been listening to on that Bandcamp link up there
sounds really sharp
I have been enjoying it
Nightbeats is a massive fucking tune.
innit
there's 2 or 3 others on the record just as strong as well
Cowtown.
Cow. Town.
Really?
none of them post on here
but they are lovely and if you email them they'll get back to you. i've probably seen them like 20+ times. and i recently bought their shirt with this design

but yeah, ace band, ace people.
They're great.
my band
played with them in manchester a good few years back, quite good from what i remember :)
who is your band?
the band
is mrfist, it might have been the retro bar? but i cant remember properly, possibly the tiger lounge? we definatly did though
can you remember who put it on?
upon further
investigation it appears it was wigan we played with them , just did a google on mr fist + cowtown
the tudor house hotel? i just saw that. i suspect that might have been to do with dan or possibly marcus.
i never went to many gigs in wigan though
thats the place
its not a bad little place for gigs in there, its usually rammed
i think i saw oxes in there. but it was a long time ago. idk.
i remember when
oxes played wigan, they have played twice once in the tudor house and once in the tavern (now turned into a bistro)
i don't know which os those is which
but i remember they were supported by youth movie soundtrack strategy
YMSS <3
i never really liked them
i was telling my friend so at that gig when one of them walked up to us. apparently he knew my mate who then said "oh so cat_race was just saying he doesn't like your band much" then walked off. that was fun. he was a nice guy though. not the sort to get upset just because someone doesn't like his band. those people are the worst
Great guys.
I seem to remember one of them was in a hardcore band called Tigers. I think I preferred Tigers but I liked Cowtown too. I haven't seen them since, um, 2005 I guess. I went up to Leeds to catch Edmund Fitzgerald on their swansong tour then went back across to another venue and caught Cowtown.
yeah, nash played drums in tigers!
Hey Body_In_The_Thames
Glad you like the new album. It's out on LP+DL on the 1st April. It'll be available in a few shops but primarily from our bandcamp and www.normanrecords.com. You're more than welcome to play a track on your DiS podcast. E-mail us at wearecowtown@gmail.com and I'll hit you with an mp3.
and yeah cat_race I used to play in Tigers! Good times! Nowadays I'm playing drums with Hookworms (just got a DiS 10/10 album review - bit crazy) and Nope. Have a listen if you haven't already.
