Marvin Gaye - Inner City Blues
Everything about this song is pure perfection. Those opening piano chords just make my heart melt.
Can we talk about 'What's Going On' and this song in particular and why Marvin Gaye is awesome.

have you got the deluxe Lets Get It On?
that is truly awesome.
I haven't no
I've always liked Marvin Gaye's music but recently I've found, especially with WGO, that I'm really starting to 'get it', and it feels amazing.
I feel I need to buy more stuff and maybe Lets Get It On should be next?
its totally different to WGO.
its very slick, but there are some good grooves. the deluxe edition (quite pricey atm) has some awesome outtakes and great funky instrumentals. he also did some great punchy pop in the mid- late '60s. 'i'll be doggone' etc
motown - lost and found is pretty good too
and you might like the Trouble Man soundtrack...
Thanks for the reccomendations
I love any kind of out-take stuff, I'm just fascinated by his production techniques and all the different layers of sound so I'd probably like this. Same with the Pet Sounds out takes.
Perfect album, beautiful song.
I had the CD in the car last weekend and the opening notes of What's Going On just melted all my troubles away as I drove along the open road of the A13 in Essex. So perfect in everyway....the album, not the A13.
Huggy, get Lets Get It On, it's a beauty as well, though I prefer Whats Going On. Then treat yourself to Trouble Man.
Gil Scott Heron's version is pretty sweet as well
