it's not that dull, imagine amazing Isis kit, proper bass and production and that could be gorgeous
but it would be the same song with good production

i'd forgotten about this
hopefully it'll be ace, but over the past few years i've started to find Deftones pretty dull (didn't make much of the first crosses ep either), which makes me sad.

A friend played me the album earlier
It's actually really lovely. Chino's voice complements the shoegazy nature of it perfectly. It sounds far more mellow than Isis, but it's unmistakably the same dudes playing. It doesn't break any new ground and sticks to a fairly rigid formula throughout, but it really hit the spot for me.
In short: Isis minus the heavy bits, plus a non-rubbish singer.
