I have in order to dance - R+S records. Its really good. That sort of thing.
recently downloaded some 3 CD collection
called Acid House Anthems.
It's great.
The early Chilled Ibiza albums were brilliant.
The Ministry of Sound 90s Anthems comp that came out last year was great

My minds gone blank
Grime 1 & 2 and Dubstep Allstars up to about Vol:6 for dubstep.
American Gigolo by Tiga is pretty much all you need for Electroclash.
So have them for now.
thanks jimi I'll check out the Tiga record
Dubstep Allstars Vol. 4
Hatcha disc. SO GOOD.
Kaos Theory 2 & 3
Hardcore - The Prodigy, Altern8, Acen, 4 Hero etc.

Mostly just 138 Trek and Neighborhood though tbf.
This Is It
A disco compiliation from about 1980.
Escape Velocity: Routes from the Jungle (or something like that)
Superdiscount (modernish French disco/ house type stuff)
That LTJ Bukem one that eveyone used to have back in the mid 90's
The Kruder and Dorfmeister ones (if that counts as dance)
Ninja Tunes - Flexistentialism
MacroDub Selection Volume I
The K&D Sessions compilation is probably my favorite mix album ever.
I had a great one called Hardcore Uproar
That had stull like Dirty Cash, Killer and (I wanna give you) Devotion. That was my post rave chill album back in the day.
If you have any room in your life for mind numbing happy hardcore then the Bonkerz series was about the best that came out.
There was a great Ramos and Supreme mix on a Battle of the DJ's thing. Anything that has Age of Stomp and the Terminator remix worked for me!
*cough cough* Enough of that
Be Somebody!
http://boomkat.com/downloads/247769-various-creme-organization-be-somebody
Creme Organization round up their impressive team of disco and house mutants for a fairly crucial look at some of their consistently awesome output from the end of this decade. With a roster including James T Cotton (aka Dabrye in jackin' house mode), Jamal Moss (under multiple pseudonyms like IBM and Africans With Mainframes), Legowelt and D'Marc Cantu you can expect expert teachings from the real raw skool of jack. Particular highlights come from IBM on 'Music Box' with 10 mins of sleazy tripping oddness, warehouse reverberating acid from Legowelt on 'Zompy Land', sh*t-yer-pants Chicago house from Polarius, and an exceptional contribution from James T Cotton on the funk chopping kicker 'King Of The Box'. Badass.
Disco Discharge series
quite simply wonderful, mix of shallow and deep crate digging
for Detroit Techno/Underground Resistance
DJ Rolando - The Aztec Mystic Mix
Kompakt
Gotta catch 'em all.
ATL Bass
http://sisilafami.tumblr.com/post/17170743029/sisilafamis-atl-bass-compilation-here-is-a
but those tracks are mostly cherry picked from these So So Def Bass All Stars comps
http://www.amazon.com/So-So-Def-Bass-All-Stars-(Series)/e/B000APZP46
Aren't dance music compilations kind of redundant these days?
When Resident Advisor, Fact, XLR8R and loads of others kindly send you a free mix each week to your computer.
very much so
which is why I just did old dubstep and electroclash ones. You can prob get good examples of those from the time online for free too tbh.
i suppose
what I'm really looking is just an album full of bangers of a certain dance genre
In which case
it has to be the original Metalheadz Platinum Breakz comp. I still listen to that now.
There's a great mix from Ulrich Shnauss of D&B of the 'ambient' variety from that era on the XLR8R podcast. That took me back.
Haven't bought many dance comps for the above reason. The other one I really love is Matthew Herbert's collection of his remixes - Secondhand Sounds. Does that count? It's kind of topical since he's bringing out a mega boxset of his albums.
cheers!
Forgot about that one
Downloading it now.....

Keeping the Faith - a Creation Dance Compilation
1991. Primal Scream, Fluke, Hypnotone, MBV...awesome.
Deep Cuts - Sabres Of Paradise label compilation
Artificial Intelligence - Warp, pretty well known comp I reckon.
Flux Trax - EXP Recordings (Hardfloor, Slam, Underworld, Guy Called Gerald, Phuture, FUSE)
The DFA ones are really good too - remixes 1 & 2, plus the 3cd set
Couldcut, Journey's by DJ 8 - 70 minutes of Madness
http://www.amazon.co.uk/70-Minutes-Madness-Journeys-DJ/dp/B000065CU1
That looks great
