Thee oh Sees announces a new album
Got to love theses guys. The last one came out Sept 2012.
Anyway, the album will be called Floating Coffin and is apparently much darker than their usual output. And the artwork. Wow.

hooray!!
fucking ace band
amazing
Love this band so much
They do like 2 or 3 a year every year without fail, don't they?
Surely it would be news if there WEREN'T another album due soon?
shut up
this'll be their fourth album since May 2011
I think it's news because their LPs are always really really good and because they're a great band
Nice work!
The last two Putrifiers II & Carrion Crawler/The Dream were ace. Loving that whole San Fran scene at the minute Ty Segall, Mikal Cronin, the Intelligence all releasing stellar efforts in the last year or two
Putrifiers II is a fucking amazing record.
Lets hope there'll be a UK tour on the cards
pretty sure I've seen their name on a UK festival line up somewhere recently, maybe an ATP one??
I've only got Help, Warm Slime and Putrifiers II. More will be purchased at some point.
Personal favourites other than those listed?
they're down for primavera
Make sure you get Castlemania. Really awkward and cute album that sounds different to their typical output.
Carrion Crawler/The Dream
<33333
I think it's one of my favourite albums ever.
I bought Carrion Crawler/The Dream last night in Rough Trade
only had the chance to listen to it once but it's sounding pretty good. Not as immediately great as Help and Putrifiers II so far but hey, every album needs to bed on down in the brainbox for a while.
They're playing the TV On the Radio ATP.
Which hopefully means Upset the Rhythm will have them on in London as well.
Buy The Master's Bedroom is Worth Spending a Night In..... It's a great album.
And the tv on the radio atp
great news
their last few releases have been excellent, i'm sure this one will be too. Hope for some uk tour dates, though seeing them play in a tiny basement in Birmingham a few years back will take a lot to beat
Excited.
Love Putrifiers II was great, love how they change it up every record and remain so consistently propulsive live.
yeah woo
none of the other West coast garagey bands do much for me, but these guys are well good.
example of this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVVkdqxg0Fw
makes me want to shake my head about and that.
Love these
Never heard of them until I stumbled across them at Godspeed ATP a few years back in Reds. At the time they were such a welcome change from the drone of the other acts that weekend, such a fun band live. Looking forward to this.
YES
that set = one of the best things I've ever seen
Agree
Of the five ATP's I've been to that set is probably one of my most memorable ones. The entire weekend the audience were total beard stroke for the most part, but this, stage diving & moshing. Loved it!
thats one fucked up
album cover
Absolutely horrible.
I will now never listen to this band on principle.
Last couple times they have played ATP...
There have been no separate UK dates, which is massively frustrating. Trying to remember the last time they played their own headline show in London - Think it was possibly November 2010 in Brixton?
They played the Dome in Tufnell Park after that.
.
I remember them playing the Lexington, God knows when though
not that I went, but I wished I had.
That album cover will look great on vinyl. Can't wait to show it to my 5 yr old daughter.
Ah Tufnell Park, forgot about that
Saw them in Stockholm last June supporting Brian Jonestown and Kurt Vile.
That was a 'phwoar' show if ever there was one.
Wasn't it just
I was at that Stockholm show too and it was one of the most electrifying sets I've ever seen in 20 years of gigging. That elongated version of 'The Dream' caused by John Dwyer breaking a string, and the band looping it around for about five additional minutes as he sorted that out, was proper good, like.
Here's to some UK dates this summer!
I went
flipping mental at that gig, was so much fun.
saw them play again on the weekend
really one of the best live bands around these days, just brilliant!
what album
should I listen to?
I haven't got everything but I'd say....
you can't go wrong with their last album, Putrifiers II, it's got a bit of everything on it. Any of those mentioned in this thread will keep you happy.
cheers
I think this is one of the only bands that put out records at this rate
and are actually consistent. No offence Ty Seagull
and dark Oh Sees sounds a bit interesting dunnit!
Dark and heavy
Those adjectives have got me frothing at the gash. This could be incredible.
Look at this guy's mental Thee oh Sees vinyl collection. I'm frothing at the gash.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61kTU944WHo
that is incredible
i've got that clear rainbow splatter one
I wonder how much money he'll give me. i want a thousand dollars now
Liverpool Sound City
Looks like they're playing Liverpool Sound City the weekend before the TV On The Radio ATP - which bodes well for a few other UK dates in between.

Oh Sees with a string section for the first time
http://mp3.imposemagazine.com/Thee-Oh-Sees_Minotaur.mp3
Wasn't so sure about this at first but it has quite a nice mood really. Would prefer them shitting out 8 minute garage-psych jams though
Scala 9th May.

Fuck yer man.
Tickets = booked.
Keep away from my man
yay!
gf is buying us tickets as i type :D
YEAH!!!
I am one super happy bunny seeing this news. Tickets have been purchased. This completes a Thee Oh Sees heavy day for me, non stop listening to their live shows on Youtube whilst at work and then hearing the new track and now this. Mind is blown!
Toe Cutter - Thumb Buster

Cardiff Clwb Ifor Bach 8th May
Got
im losing faith
last two have been a let down for me.
although they just released putrifiers 11 demos(on spotify),its a lot better than the main release
what do you mean by the last two?
Carrion Crawler/The Dream?
which was amazing.
you don't mean that one, do you.
surely not
Carrion Crawler/The Dream was unbelievable. Not really into Floating Coffin as much as everyone else though. Still very good, but feel they are capable of much better...
there are a lot of awesome riffs
sounds and bass-lines in it. Some very cool ideas - tricks with delay and such-like, and strong song progressions. I like it a lot more than Putrefiers II. Some of it more than Carrion Crawler stuff, some less so. Not disappointed at all.
nneeaarrlllyyyyy there!
what sort of material have they been playing live recently?
As long as Block of Ice is still present, plus a surprise off Warm Slime I'll be happy. Fuck that, I'll be happy regardless tbf.
Saw them on Sunday
yes they are brilliant live!
My friend can't make it anymore so I have a spare ticket. £15. If anyone's interested send me a PM.
Tonight!
Does anyone have stage times for the Scala tonight?
Times they are a-here
http://www.atpfestival.com/events/theeohseesscala/view/theescalatimes.php
Thanks!
Are they still doing that double drummer ish?
dont think so...
That was only during the CC tour I think. But Lars Finberg who did the extra drumming is coming over in June with the Intelligence. Already super excited for that show.
Who the fuck was that nutcase on stage? Jesus.
Went to the Lexington after
He turned up with his nephew, the guy from daisy kitty and Lewis. So that's one answer. This was fucking brill
To which I mean the gig.
Not that he turned up with etc etc
The 'nutcase' was King Khan
http://kingkhanmusic.com/#!/king-khan-and-the-shrines
He outstayed his welcome a bit didn't he but didn't spoil the gig in anyway for me as I was having to much sweaty fun in the moshpit area. I bloody love Thee Oh Sees!! Incredible live band, so much energy and adrenalin going on. Not entirely sure how people can stand dead still to it but each to their own. Personally i lost by sheeeeeeeeeit to them in fine style.
Only the one drummer. No size small t-shirts which was a bummer. Apparently they'd sold out of them by the 4th gig of this tour.
King Khan got his dick out by all accounts. Plus he chucked all their food rider into the crowd bit by bit. Not sure why he was there to be honest but hey.
I thought it was King Khan!
Me and the missus couldn't quite decide if it was or not. Maybe next time he can bring that moody fuck BBQ with him and they could play a show or two...
But yeah last night was pretty incredible. Sauna Youth continue to get better and better as well.
excuse my grammar up there ^^
too little sleep, too much happiness
ah haha he was so ace
great gig. when i saw them last year they had some kid on stage with them who vommed. maybe it's a thing
didn't realise you were going or i would have given you a shout
Been 3 years since they last came to glasgow
three long shit years :(
Best band in the world, bar none.
last year was in new york
you can leave glasgow for the evening
