But bear in mind the sixty pound day pass on Sunday in 2011 got you Godspeed, Liars, Beach House, Swans, Grinderman and Portishead. They were quite badly hit by cancellations last year but even so the lineup never looked like matching that.
has The Field live show evolved from just a dude staring at his laptop? Not sure how well that would work at 3pm on a wet London afternoon in a cavernous echo chamber...
I see it's £26 for the other YYY UK shows which I assume are just them headlining with 1 or 2 support acts.
Maybe I'm just getting old but in my mind spending over £100 for a weekend (or near to £70 for a day when you include fees) is only for "proper" large scale festivals, not smaller indoor shows. Still, will have to see what the rest of the line up looks like.
which include accommodation about £120? probably cheaper booze too (I haven't been since the Mars Volta one as the press tickets are £80 and come with nowhere to sleep...)
but that's a great start. I had such a good time last year (though the weather probably helped a lot - lazing around outside in between bands was brilliant).
I'm guessing though with their new promotor partnership they announced means that this one won't be as much of a loss maker as the last one.
I mean every word mate! Love Cass McCombs, Love Tortoise, Love Real Estate - lived down the hill from Ally Pally this time last year so it holds a special place in my heart, and had a wicked time at last years IBYM, between swims in the Crouch End lido and boose on the grass....
but it's a shame it's in the same month as the Camber Sands ATPs!
Can't afford to go to both and I'd rather go to the TV on the Radio one, but this is 15 minutes from my house. Can someone please prop the doors open so I can hear it?
I've been both years and thoroughly enjoyed it, but it was looking pretty uninspired this year. Now they've thrown a spanner in the works adding The Locust and I have to decide if I can afford/want to fork out 60 quid to see them again
one of those. I was there for that tour and I loved it. Made all the better by all the fashion YYYs fans getting diva-pissy and chucking stuff at them. They just revelled in it.
Oops, pressed post too soon.
May 4th and 5th 2013 at Alexandra Palace.

Can't believe they're still doing this
The last one must have haemorrhaged money, was a great weekend though. Going to need a bit more from the lineup if I'm going to go again.
Pretty disappointing
I really enjoyed it last year, no chance I'll go with that line-up. Shame.
£110 for a 2 day pass
and £59 for one day seems pretty steep - was it that much previously? That's £10 more than Field Day for one day with way fewer acts.
Yeah, the prices are the same as previous years
But bear in mind the sixty pound day pass on Sunday in 2011 got you Godspeed, Liars, Beach House, Swans, Grinderman and Portishead. They were quite badly hit by cancellations last year but even so the lineup never looked like matching that.
think this one looks much better
Disagree
At the moment The Field, Real Estate and Tortoise are the only bands I want to see. The rest I can take or leave (The Walkmen I can very much leave).
The Walkmen are terrific live.
Unless they're playing music by a different band I don't think I'd enjoy them that much.
has The Field live show evolved from just a dude staring at his laptop? Not sure how well that would work at 3pm on a wet London afternoon in a cavernous echo chamber...
he had a drummer when i saw him
last year
He now comes with a drummer and a bassist I think
There were a couple of laptop hunchers (Umberto, Demdike Stare) and they seemed to go down OK.
*last year
Also, I would have thought that for something like The Field, they'd go on after the headliner like Factory Floor and Caribou at the first one.
.
The Company Flow show there was one of the best gigs i've even been to. I was pissed out of my tiny mind, though.

Bear in mind that Grizzly Bear and YYYs charged about £30 for their last gigs over here.
Fair point
I see it's £26 for the other YYY UK shows which I assume are just them headlining with 1 or 2 support acts.
Maybe I'm just getting old but in my mind spending over £100 for a weekend (or near to £70 for a day when you include fees) is only for "proper" large scale festivals, not smaller indoor shows. Still, will have to see what the rest of the line up looks like.
Whether it's a large festival or a small festival,
you can only see the same number of bands in a day.
True
So I guess my problem really is I don't think this line up is worth £110.
aren't 3-day weekend ATP tickets
which include accommodation about £120? probably cheaper booze too (I haven't been since the Mars Volta one as the press tickets are £80 and come with nowhere to sleep...)
£180-ish
I think
Thats roughly the same as last years.
The lack of Friday this time round is probably a good idea.
I reckon i'll go for The Grizzly Bear day, though won't sell out for a while.
.
Not much on there I really want to see just yet, but I always really like IBYM so will see how it pans out.
Could be tempted by YYYs day
Pleased its on the bank holiday weekend too.
My 40th birthday weekends
Sorted then.excellent news
Will probably wait til its filled out a bit
but that's a great start. I had such a good time last year (though the weather probably helped a lot - lazing around outside in between bands was brilliant).
I'm guessing though with their new promotor partnership they announced means that this one won't be as much of a loss maker as the last one.
bit ATP innit
FINALLY gonna get to see Tortoise!
Sold. Always a fun weekend anyway, hope the weather is a good as last year, I'll just get pissed on the hills outside AP again :)
I'd only watch YYYs, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and Tortoise. :(
Anybody that went last year..
What time did the first bands come on ?
Interested in the Grizzly Bear day but would have to get down to London village, check into a hotel etc etc
Thanks
About midday both weekend days if I remember correctly.
cheers
It's all very Reading 2006.
Wow, Grizzly Bear day looks ace!
Tortoise and Cass on the same day! Last years was great - Ally Pally is a great venue for it.

Wha?
It's Insincere Dave

Haha,
I mean every word mate! Love Cass McCombs, Love Tortoise, Love Real Estate - lived down the hill from Ally Pally this time last year so it holds a special place in my heart, and had a wicked time at last years IBYM, between swims in the Crouch End lido and boose on the grass....
Also Insincere Dave really looks like me
I do have a red face and a big blonde quiff so, I started feeling paranoid.
YYY day looks bloody brilliant
this looks really great
tortoise!!!
Any chance someone can put on a non IBYM Tortoise London show?
Been waiting for them to come back, but not interested in the festival. Would be at an individual gig like a shot.
looks great
but it's a shame it's in the same month as the Camber Sands ATPs!
Can't afford to go to both and I'd rather go to the TV on the Radio one, but this is 15 minutes from my house. Can someone please prop the doors open so I can hear it?
The Locust are playing!
Nicolas Jaar and a James Murphy DJ Set as well.

The Locust?!?
I've been both years and thoroughly enjoyed it, but it was looking pretty uninspired this year. Now they've thrown a spanner in the works adding The Locust and I have to decide if I can afford/want to fork out 60 quid to see them again
That's like 2 quid per minute if you're just going for The Locust set
the locust are the one band I should love but dont
think they are shit
The Locust are the worst band I've ever seen. I saw them
support The Yeah Yeah Yeahs years ago in 2004 (I think). They're shit.
hahahah
one of those. I was there for that tour and I loved it. Made all the better by all the fashion YYYs fans getting diva-pissy and chucking stuff at them. They just revelled in it.
Yeah, true. There wasn't much love lost between the front row and
The Locust. I remember they had umbrellas to protect their equipment from beer throwing.
The Locust rules live.
The Locust are the best band to be announced for ATP since The Locust at Melvins/Mike Patton
