Had 6 Music on in the background last night (on my Roberts Revival Union Jack DAB as per yesterday's board discussion natch) and one track jumped out at me with it's mix of Kate Bush style vocals, relentess beat, and 80s synth and guitars.
Upon ending, the DJ (Mark Riley, formerly of popular beat combo The Fall no less) announced that it was by an artist named Danielle Dax. I had initially assumed that the sound was deliberately revivalist, but a quick Google revealed she was an artist who had indeed primarily recorded in the 1980s. Her Wikipedia page revealed her to be a woman of myriad talents, but now retired from the music business.
Anyone know much about her? Am thinking of checking out some of her stuff, although my initial brief investigations suggest that much of it might be out of print. Does she have what is considered a 'classic' album that I should be concentrating my initial efforts on?
Thanks in advance music board...
