Favourite album recorded in Berlin
Of course, my all time favourite was partly recorded there, Bowies masterfull 11th album. I love the atmosphere of that record, and people say it captures something of the city at the time. Is that true? Because I wouldn't know.
Another album I like is Nick Cave' Your Funeral My Trial. Again recorded in Berlin and again everyone says it 'sounds' 'like' 'Berlin'. What do they mean by this? The sound is completely different to Low. But then again, there does seem to be a similarity in 'mood'. I can't put my finger on what it is.
Anyway, other good albums recorded in Berlin?
Hansa Tonstudio is the mecca for Berlin recorded albums

I made the pilgrimage the other year to get some photos - it's not much to look at from the outside tbf
Coincidentally, I was listening to Drum's Not Dead by Liars last night which was recorded in Berlin and it prompted me to look up the details. From Wikipedia:
"the group completed the album in an East German broadcast center that allowed them a multitude of different acoustic environments for recording."
Good idea, recording somewhere that is not only set up for the job but offers a range of different options rather than doing the whole album in the same room.
Also...
...I assume you've read Bowie In Berlin. Lovely stuff:

Interesting that he chose to make his comeback single so indebted to the place.
Depeche Mode
Pretty much all their classic mid-period stuff was recorded in Berlin.
Might I be a little obtuse if I say that
more of my favourite albums have been recorded in Aix-en-bains in France than in Berlin
