actually- threw 5 cds, hit 'randomize' and 'play' (mainly because the remote was "over there" and I was "over here"). Had to have a long sit afterwards as I was exhausted!
Cos I make mix tapes for the car. Haim ep, Ministry of Sound - The Chillout Sessions, DB Low, though, this last time.
I've heard Low a thousand and one times...made that one for someone.
But it's this Haim ep... can't remember the last time catchy pop song (Forever) blew my mind... I'm hooked!
About a month ago I bought SP Adore cd in a thrift shop...which is really your query, eh? It's still in the trunk of my car. (I already have it on computer...have it on another cd in a box somewhere...but it was a dollar, so wtf; see also Duran Duran and the four otrher cd's canna remember)
popped the Arctic Monkeys' debut in the CD player while making dinner
it was a Pink Martini best of. Was OK.
I was cleaning for a party I was having & stuck in Belle & Sebastian Write About Love. I think tonight I'll crack open a bottle of bourbon, put on the headphones & sit down between my 2 players & a mixing board & have a fantasy late night saturday radio show. Commercial free.
I wish I had 2 players and a mixing deck now .. and a bottle of bourbon.
Kevin Tihista's latest.
Alcohol, wrongly boosting self confidence for over 200 years!
At home? Who knows? Haven't had a CD player for over a decade. Used a DVD player until that died a month ago. Replaced that with a ps3. Both used daily as a CD player, ta.
how else am I supposed to play music?
wow, ages ago, I don't use discs anymore... it's all cloud or download! MENTAL! Digital age is upon us folks and I've almost filled a 2TB drive :(
2TB? Fuck off. How do you even do that?
I don't really download much anymore, listen to everything on Spotify, YouTube & Soundcloud pretty much.
Am I the only one?
I normally just have my laptop plugged into it though and play music through that. I think I just whacked Doves' Lost Souls in while getting dressed after a shower. Couldn't be bothered to turn the lappy on.
Yesterday in my car
Heavy Vegetable - The amazing undersea adventures of aqua kitty and friends
It's ace. I proably listen to 3 or 4 albums (cd and vinyl) most days.
do you have Frisbie though? That one is the bestest I think.
My fave Rob Crow is Thingy - Songs about angels insects and running around on fire. It's fantastic.
I only really like him when he is doing the off kilter sort of stuff. Pinback lost me a bit
Cloudz by Sunroof! that recently arrived in thee post. It is ace. Matthew Bower on his day guys. The greatest.
the new-ish deft ones
Ruff Sqwad - White Label Classics [No Hoods No Hats]
Yesterday was the first time in ages tho, I think I played Queens of the Stone Age Rated R a few months ago and LHF Keepers of the Light a bit before that and maybe that was the last new CD I got beside Ruff Sqwad. Mainly cos I buy to many records so don't get CDs too unless I really need to.
Mogwai - Young Team then DJ Shadow - Entroducing then Pinch and Shackleton - Pinch and Shackleton. While waiting for someone in a car. Not heard the first two for ages. So fucking good.
The big weirdo. Although admittedly I do massively prefer CDs to vinyl.
when I change the car this year, I think this is going to be it - I bet I will use my ipod all the way.
Last CD was Patrick Wolf - Sundark and Riverlight
My last bastion of physical media was CDs in the car. I got a new one a month or so ago with a 6 CD changer thinking that it would be ace not having to change discs all the time. I then spent the first 5 minutes of every journey cycling through them to remember what I had loaded in.
Turns out there is an aux input in the glove compartment so I just plug my phone into that.
Listened to At All Ends by Yellow Swans.
The 100,000,000 Best Christmas Songs... EVER! or something like that
I got Something Wicked This Way Comes by The Herbaliser in the post today so stuck it on. I only bought it because it was a pound-odds as I already have it on vinyl. I like CDs though - I'm pretty much surrounded by them. I have a 6 disk changer and it gets refilled everyday, near enough. I reckon I listen to CDs 50% of the time, Spotify 40% and records the remaining 10%.
I don't download anything these days, but pretty much everything I've downloaded in the past has been burned to disk too. I'm a bit odd about it really.
so far I have rammed it into my laptop and ripped it. I guess that counts. God that album is stunning.
Roman Candle, possibly my favourite album at the moment.
Keep going back to it.
Got Coexist by the XX, Rustie's Glass Swords and Take Care by Drake all for £15 yesterday so just working my way through them.
Have a six disc player and rotate the cd's in it regularly. I'd love to shake the hand of the man that invented random.
as im in the latter stages of recovering from too many saturday night drinks and want the warmth and comfort of my old separates by the fire. sat with treebursts in snow then its tramp. cosy all round really.
