TOP WORK MEDULLA <3
I arrived late to the (actual) party but that Japandroids record is way too much fun
pleased to see it so high.
Earlier in the year I would've expected Grimes to be top 10 minimum and I wasn't aware of the love for The Twilight Sad's latest.
Probably the best list i've seen this year (ayethanguzverymuch) but maybe that reflects the fact that most of my 'research' this year has been done pretty much exclusively through DiS boards rather than more traditional routes.
Yeah I only just got Japandroids last week
and it would have been top 5 for me i think
that is a cracking top ten
well done everyone!
Great work Medulla - I know everyone really appreciates this
Chromatics :)
Glad to see Deftones approaching top 10.
Great album, and excluded on far too many lists this year.
^This
+The Walkmen.
Pleased that 4 of my 5 are top 50
feels like I belong
I didn't vote in this as I think the only album up there I actually listened to was Japandroids,
but I look forward to checking some of these out.
Don't bother.
They're all shit and it's unbelievable that anyone on an *allegedly* alternative website would vote for them, especially those higher up the list.
Allegedly
I own 31 of those
I am well DiS.
But only one of those would have been in my top 5 - How to Dress Well - Total Loss, which would be my Number One.
Maybe Cloud Nothings as well actually. Had I ever got round to making an EOYL. I think my brain wanted a bit of an easy ride this year.
398 albums voted for by 278 people doesn't sound like very many. Using very bad stats, that's only about 1 unique album per person. Not surprised it was such a close call really, but 12 points seems like a lot given the context.
What was the range of scores, from 50 to 1?
this is such a boring post.
I've heard 30 (don't own many)
And Total Loss was my number 1.
So I don't find your post boring at all.
There was a difference of 104 points between #1 and #50.
Also, fewer people voted this year, I think.
I'm sure it was 400-and-something when I did it last year.
Still, it's nice to see this - Chromatics had it by a MILE early on in the game, then Liars, Japandroids and Swans all really caught up. Quite the points war between Frank Ocean and Kendrick Lamar, too.
amazing work Medulla
and kinda incredible to see how closely the readership and the staff (approximated by me to try to reflect the community) echo each other. http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4422326
With an added dose of Japandroids love
You don't want it too close though, that's Pitchfork territory.
Heard 27
But voted for The Seer out of the top 5 (and the top 50 come to think of it). Gratifying mix of indie points and not being a total contrary bellwhiff.
yay DIIV...
...probably my favorite record of the last few years.
cheers Medulla.
you guys really need to listen to that ROYAL HEADACHE LP tho.

I thank you
come on that Japandroids album is too fun for a 5
agree with most of the rest, except I'd knock a few off Chromatics
or a 3, even
As per each year
I'm too out of kilter to say that I listened to or liked any of the top 20.
Unlike previous years my album of the year made it into the top 50.
cheers man
you're a sexy hero
Yeah I think I got Orbital onto the list (if my votes were counted)!
and I think I like about 7 of those albums.
Heard 45.
....and that's why I love Drowned in Sound
You're all wonderful, don't ever change.
Gonna get a load of these
at a shop
Still loving this, drunk.
so it must be a winner.
Great to see Channel Orange up where you'd expect it to be.
