We truly do seem to live in bland times though.
But, MY GOD, is Emeli Sande dull. Just like that Tulisa "we're young" song, the tunes just seems like half baked ideas someone had whilst in the showe. the kind of songs you sing whilst trying to find your keys.
I hear this question on a daily basis in the staff room, especially from my younger colleagues who think that they know it all. Well they don't and I was not born yesterday. The answer is yes, unequivocally yes, music can be duller than Emily Sandy. She is a bright young talent with a good set of pipes on her and I for one am quite partial to bright young talent with good pipes! Also, she was excellent value for money at the Olympics.
it's the dullness and barely-there-ness of her that really makes her special
They're essentially created to be boring and inoffensive, so that they appeal to everyone and anyone can listen and go, 'She/he has quite a good voice' - not even definite, just /quite/ a good voice. There's not really any way to change how that stuff works.
It's worse when there is an independent band who lots of people rave about and think are brilliant, but who are actually just really, really bland.
But she has been so ubiquitous this year it's annoying.
But I haven't noticed her really, apart from one song. I only hear the stuff from the radio when I'm at work, so I guess I must live in a personal bubble where I only hear what I allow myself to hear. I find it really easy to do, actually
I was bored, very bored
she looks like jess ennis' slightly scary cousin
