Howling Bells - s/t
What was lovely little record that is. One of my favourite debuts of the last decade.

I thought the last record was awful and the 2nd hit-and-miss. They need to back to writing those country noir tunes that made them so good in the first place.

Been listening to Low Happening recently
Agree with you that it's a nice enough album.
This is a great song

Dunno if it was off the s/t, I guess it was.
Setting Sun is lovely.
Totally agree
1st album is great. The rest meh at best. Very saddening how they lost what they had
Masterpiece of a debut.
I seem to like the second one more than most folks. The latest one was turgid though. It's the sound of a band who's obviously forgotten what it was that made them sound so appealling in the first place. All that sultry noirish mystery is gone and replaced by meat 'n potatoes rock.
Holy hell is the lead singer one fine lookin' dame.
I know I usually don't agree with most
"the debut was good but then they lost it" threads but in this case it's right. Second album was ok. I thought it was a nice follow up not as good as the debut but that 3rd actually waned with each listen. It's always weird to see a band make such an assured, powerful album and then suddenly make a really mediocre one.
The dictionary definition
of 'Dropped the bat' form now on should just have a photo of the Howling Bells.
Hear hear
Fantastic album. That and My Latest Novel's debut.
Setting Sun usually goes on my works mixtapes.
They bought
my old band's van after we split up.
Juanita Stein is indeed a hottie.
