Sleater Kinney have always been a hit and miss band for me. I'm a 36 year
old that probably saw them live 10 times over the years. Live: hit and miss. Also, albums after Hot Rock are generally rubbish. HOWEVER, when on form they're brilliant.
It confuses me that people seem to think the woods is their best album when yeah

well that's why I'm asking if maybe it's just that not everyone's given them a proper listen

i've always assumed they were slightly shouty 'slacker' indie rock (which isn't my sort of thing) but i've probably misjudged them terribly. What song will convince me to like them?
I wouldn't really put them in the same category as 'slacker' stuff
they're slightly shouty at some points but it's mostly just really good guitar music and really great vocals. I'd probably listen to the hot rock first.

all-girl post-hardcore (not actual post-hardcore, but with a similar bone structure, as in they sound like indie rock punk rock made after hardcore) with killer melodies and hollered and/or melodious vocals.
