First time I'd heard either track, but probably Peter Gabriel. Not his best song, well produced though.
a ton this year. Awesome stuff.
The way the tension builds to the boiling point (2:35) and then releases is wonderful. A harrowing song wrapped in a pleasant instrumental.

Fine Lines is so ridiculously addictive, though. I love how his voice just rolls along, barely creating words half of the time. Martyn does poignant as well as anyone. His fluctuation on the hook kinda sums up what I love about him, strangely melodic. What puts this song slightly ahead for me is the middle section (about 1:30) when the wah guitar comes in with the piano and acoustic guitar.
and gotta be Gabriel for me, just can't get on with Martyn's voice. Too unformed I guess? Whereas every new thing I hear by Gabriel just makes me like him more and more.
And just cos we're on the topic, this reworking of Solsbury Hill makes me smile like nothing else
