I think it's the fact that it's an instant purchase which is the remarkable thing.
You're not generally ordering a 'live album' online etc.
You can have that night's gig, mastered, on CD and in your hands just after the show ends. And they're doing that for every gig.
It's nice but certainly not unusual - lots of bands do it now...

Did this at their London gigs in 2010 I think it was. Think Pixies did it for their Doolittle shows (might have been a different tour).
I think it's a nice touch and the Carter ones seemed to sell shedloads.
Pixies have done it regularly
since they reformed. Not sure, but I've got a feeling that the Hot Chip/LCD show at Alexandra Palace was released on this basis too.

but they were the first time i had seen them for sale straight after
