This has made my morning.
He's never going to do an album again
is he. Sigh.
What does it matter if he's putting out the music?
Because of the time of year, I'm now imagining Archangel with a different vocal sample
Christmas Time (Don't Let the Bells End) by The Darkness, but to the same melody as Archangel. Sounds pretty great in my head.
Christmas tiiime
Don't let thebells end
Don't let thebells end
Doo'nt let thebells eeeend
Ace
He's been kinda prolific this last few years, I don't think I'd mind if he never did an album again when you get two quality EPs a single and a load of ace colabs this year with Four Tet, Thom Yorke, Massive Attack and Dusk & Blackdown. Sweet.
his constant production > one big release every few years
and I will take Kindred's longer evolving tracks over more numerous but shorter tracks any day.
Yeah I loved Kindred, I thought it was a great direction.
I'd be happy with a couple of EPs a year.
Glad I haven't voted in the best EP thread yet
Pretty sure he is predicting his rankings by naming this EP One/Two though.
haha
Kode9 said on twitter 'it aint calld one/two by the way - just cant trust shops to keep their mouths shut' https://twitter.com/kodenine/status/275523334228283392 so yeah who knows could be old stuff could be new no idea.
Imagine all the websites and magazines who have already made and about to release their best of lists
that can't really include this EP, hahaha
FUCK YES
this'll be the best somber, introspective sadsack, train-sampling holiday yet
I like to think of this as Burial's Christmas single.
Shall we start a Facebook campaign.
Burial for Christmas No.1.
If Shackleton can do a Christmas single then Burial sure could
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrQoILhD2E8
That was just odd.
This is why Burial fans sometimes get a bad press
http://youtu.be/GMIF93jqRN8
cos some of them do that :')
wtf is that hahahaha
I quite like that :\
They are reaching the highest heights of brooklyn there though.
oh god
oh god
:'D
that can fuck right off.
Don't get me wrong, the idea of it can fuck right off.
...oh god, I think ATP has turned me into an...indie.
don't get me wrong, i love indie & atp
i just hate semi-ironic bearded covers of electronic and (especially) hip-hop music.
Totally understandable.
I think half my like of it is pure beard envy.
XD
I think they might have just killed rock music
Strangely Shatneresque
Truant/Rough Sleeper
http://www.thelineofbestfit.com/news/latest-news/names-of-new-burial-tracks-leak-114600
could have guessed that
I love those preview clips
Sounds like they're gonna be GR8
what's Burial's day job?
no reason to ask, just curious. i hope it's something dead incongruous with the music he makes.
He's a grave digger
:'''''''DDDDDDDDDD
Motivational speaker
Night bus driver
wrote some words on Kindred
you can probably tell I'm looking forward 2 this one

Hyperdub's joke hashtag - #BurialXmasNo1 - is currently trending in the UK.
Just imagine.
its out, on hyperdub website
just downloaded. going to listen on the tube.
^

It'll prob ship from shops over the weekend too. I sometimes get 12"s that are meant to be out on the monday the weekend just before.
weird that Burial releases are pretty much the only music I pay for these days
everything else I just wait until its on Spotify.
Prodigy bit in the middle of Truant
(y)
Burial channelling his inner Rhythm & Sound on Truant.
Sounded great so far.
so...
Truant isn't great, not much of a progression and not up there with the tunes on the Kindred EP.
Rough Sleeper is brilliant though. Love what sounds like a sax on it.
Anyone know where to get it
on vinyl?
Online or a shop?
Usual spots like Boomkat, Bleep, Phonica, Chemical, Redeye, prob indie spots like Norman too. There is a CD too. Most places will have it I'd have thought Hyperdub tend to press a lot for Burial nowadays and if you miss it it'll prob be back within a month with a repress.
Whoops!
Cheers man - They had it at Phonica....
And then I spent £47 on Burial, Joy O and Leon Vynehall records.
I got mine from Boomkat
If I had to rate the recent 12"s from Burial in my prefered order...
Street Halo
Truant/Rough Sleeper
Kindred
Kindred bottom?
Early day's on the new one but so far for me:
Kindred
Street halo
Truant/Rough Sleeper
I mean I really like them all but yeah its where it is
Stolen Dog is prob one of my fave Burial bits recently so that Street Halo EP is top by far, its more focused and easier to get thru too. New 12" I love the short pasages, they're subtle and more focused than Kindred, just slight plays on a simular theme that really work even if they are also more fragmented somehow cos of the breaks and things like that. Kindred felt more clutered to me. I like it but it aint as focused and as easy to like for me.
An interesting but slightly strange record in my view
Not as all out brilliant and fully realised as Kindred.
With all the stopping and starting and changes of tone and tempo both sides sound more like a set of partly developed sketches than properly finished tracks to me.
That said, it's enthralling and interesting and loads of bits of it are properly beautiful, especially on Rough Sleeper. He's never released a record that's not worth cherishing.
yeah I thought the same RE: sketches
especially on Truant.
I like to think of each track as a suite of sorts.
I think this is right
It's almost like a little mini album, with each of the parts of each side a little mini song.
It's really growing on me, but I can't help wishing the ideas had been developed and extended to make it into a full length album.
Skrillex thinks he's burial now
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_8xfmxea2M
Fuck. Me.
That's atrocious. Everything from the pitch-shifted vocal samples to the revving car engine and the feel of the reverb on the drum samples sounds like it's taken directly from a Burial track. Admittedly a shit one, but a Burial track nonetheless.
This sounds like kid trying to replicate Burial.
Nothing is sacred to Skrillex, he dulled down dupstep, now he's going after future garage. What is next for this monster?
lmao
sounds like he's followed a "make a burial track" tutorial from a production magazine or something. fucking shameless.
lol
another reason some Burial fans give other ones a bad name haha. Skrillex should remix that Chet Faker version I posted above :')
the music sounds like if you converted Burial to midi!
my word
I'm more interesting in that Ad at the bottom. Breakin' A Sweat by Skrillex & The Doors! 3D Version for Nintendo! eh???
oh it gets a bit more real sounding in the last minute
BUT STILL
