Sharon Van Etten's mini album Epic is far better than Tramp, right?
Tramp is certainly a very good album but Epic with it's seven songs works far better. Epic also has her best song "Don't Do It" on it.

I like both but probably prefer Epic
Epic certainly showcases her voice a lot more, and its a voice that deserves showcasing
The problem with Tramp
The biggest draw to Sharon Van Etten for me always has been and most likely always will be her voice. Tramp tries it's hardest to hide her voice and it left me knocking my head on my desk as I listen to 'yet another folk musician expanding their sound by fronting a full band' which I'm bored of.
I don't understand people who feel Sharon's voice is hidden on Tramp
Then again, I was never as into the previous albums as much as this one (which has been an obsession)
You can hear her voice pretty well on here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEINqs3bKVs
I might be interviewing Sharon again next week
if you have anything you'd like me to ask her?
when i interviewed her
she hugged me afterwards. she's lovely. that's all i got.
She is lovely. I chatted to her for a bit at Latitude when she did the session for us. She had never tried hairbo eggs before. She was a big fan.
Actually
I've been listening more to the live sessions she's done for NPR, KRCW, AOL, etc recently as her live band set up at the moment is incredible, the arrangements she's done with her backing singer Heather Woods Broderick (who's about to put out her own album which I'd be interested to hear) with a bit more stripped down approach from the band are really helping her come to the front again.
Will still maintain my argument that the best thing I've heard her do is a bootleg of her playing solo (pre-epic) from NYCTaper

Correct.
I was going to say 'Ask' runs 'Don't Do It' pretty close in the best SVE song stakes, but I'm listening to the latter again right now...

Ah, that chord going into the chorus... yeah.
