About DiS users' albums of 2012...
I understand the kind soul from last year said he would be willing to do it again. But really we should spread around the responsibility, so I'm willing to throw my hat into the ring. It would start on the 1st of December and I'm considering extending it to ten entries (we're all list fanatics after all). Everyone good with this?

Pro's of 5 nominations
i) I would guess a lot of folks don't buy 10 albums in the year of release (but might have done so by half way through the next year), so you'll not get 10 albums from quite a lot of people
ii) 5 fits with previous years
Cons of 5 nominations
i) if you have bought quite a lot, one might feel predisposed to highlight the stuff you want to show up in the list, rather than what you feel are your five favourites (just to give them a chance of having a mention)
ii) If you have bought quite a lot, 5 IS JUST NOT ENOUGH DAMMNIT.
7.5 anyone? (you can use the 0.5 for an album you're very undecided about...)

I'm happy for suggestions as to how it could be amended - as highlighted in the thread I started a couple of weeks ago - but I'd really like to do it again.

I think the majority would prefer no changes too, so just keep it the same.

The other suggestion would be a 10, with 10, 9, 8, 7, etc points for albums, and if you only choose to put 5 then they get 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, respectively? Or is that tampering with a format that's worked for the past X number of years?

There's no one obvious winner this year, is there? Certainly publications may be more or less predictable, but who do people think will win the DiS board AOTY?
If I had to call it, I guess maybe Grimes... Not necessarily going to top a lot of lists, but likely to feature in a lot of top fives I'd have thought. Or SVE, maybe GY!BE...

It is hard to call (compared to 2011) because many of the best-loved records have a fair number of detractors (Swans, Frank Ocean, Chromatics). Plus the likes of Deftones, Kendrick Lamaar etc. may not have been around long enough. Dark Horses could be Purity Ring or Tame Impala (at least I think so).
I thought everyone was raving about Chromatics?
When it came out it seemed to be regarded as an instant modern classic
