Haven't done anything brilliantly consistent since Trust. Going back I still think "The Curtain Hits The Cast" is the ultimate Low album, so dark and dense. The warmest and loveliest is probably "Secret Name", those strings...
is quite likely the greatest Low song ever off of C'mon. Don't get how one likes Fire and doesn't like C'mon or Drums and Guns. You're pretty much following them push their sound in different directions now and it's fascinating. All the album's are growers as well.
hope it is better than the last one
the three new songs they've played live haven't been up to much unfortunately.
C'mon had its moments
but lacked the intensity of previous albums. Yeah, probably my least favourite Low album (though by comparison still a good album)
I though C'mon was LOADS better than drums and guns
that's their weakest imho
I preferred Drums and Guns but hey
C'mon is a superb record
And so is Drums and Guns
what that guy said...
so what does that make Trust and Things We Lost In The Fire?
two of my top 10 favourite albums ever
very superb...
which in turn makes I Could Live in Hope and The Great Destroyer extremely superb.
I think The Great Destroyer slips to the level of flawed brilliance
The others are just brilliant
I can't be the only one to think that none of their later stuff tops their first three albums
surely.
I know that's the indiest thing i could've possibly said, but i dont care.
or even comes close to it actually
except for the odd song
It depends whether
you count Things We Lost In The Fire as "their later stuff". For me it's their best album.
i was counting everything after the first 3 as later stuff
i've not heard secret name though.
I only ever listen to low if i want to hear something crushingly depressing. Things we lost in the fire is good but not depressing enough really.
Secret Name is brilliant
I think Secret Name and Things We Lost In The Fire are their 2 best albums actually.
You are all forgetting Low Christmas
Shame on you all! I only let myself play it in December and so I'm starting to get feverish in anticipation
Drums and Guns was the first Low album I actually heard
and thus i remain very fond of it, and I thought C'mon was very solid if not brilliant
Feel exactly the same way with C'mon
What this thread has taught me:
everyone likes different Low albums.
In a year's time this new one will be someone's favourite.
For the record, it's Drums & Guns for me.
What are people's thoughts on Tweedy as producer?
think he'll suit more than the drums and guns production
I really like the Drums and Guns production.
It was great to hear Low in a completely different context. It feels strangley unfinished, but that just adds to the intrigue.
I don't have a great deal of love for C'mon though.
has anyone downloaded that free live EP?
it's good like.
I listened to Trust all the way through yesterday
for the first time in years and there is some heavy stuff going on on that album.
New track....
http://www.nme.com/news/various-artists/67913
vocal melodies kind of sound a bit like the tourist by radiohead, don't they?
something like that.
Pretty shit song, though.
it's just a bit of the intro to silver rider repeated for ages
how the fuck did I miss this?
I bet it'll be brilliant. in the pattern of recent albums, i.e. poor, brilliant, poor...
I will be so disillusioned if a Tweedy-helmed Low record isn't a knockout.
i've heard four songs from it, and three of them sound pretty dull
i dunno if Alan's running out of steam or spreading himself too thin nowadays..
it's leaked...
that's an early leak
Really miss the old Low
Haven't done anything brilliantly consistent since Trust. Going back I still think "The Curtain Hits The Cast" is the ultimate Low album, so dark and dense. The warmest and loveliest is probably "Secret Name", those strings...
2 step is the most beautiful song ever
Especially me
is quite likely the greatest Low song ever off of C'mon. Don't get how one likes Fire and doesn't like C'mon or Drums and Guns. You're pretty much following them push their sound in different directions now and it's fascinating. All the album's are growers as well.
