Frank was a crossover success way back in July. He's blown. They can still play tastemaker with Kendrick somewhat. And that is the LIFEBLOOD of Pitchfork.
Because even before Kaleidoscope Dream came out I couldn't really see why Channel Orange was getting so much praise, and then Miguel came along and completely blew it out of the water. Is it just because people who don't normally listen to r'n'b have been told this is an r'n'b album they can like?
bitch don't kill my vibe
I'm fairly sure it'll Franky
With Kendrick in second.
These would be my two albums of the year
Along with Four Tet, How To Dress Well and The xx. I'm such a pitchfork slave :-/
listened to the frank album three times a day the first two months it was out
i listen to it about once a week now
still great, though. definitely the best album i've heard this year.
Given that Frank is getting love across the board
I think they'll plump for Kendrick to be slightly less 'safe'. Or maybe Swans. Please Swans.
^ This is my precise resa
I meant to say 'this is my precise reasoning'.

I expect Death Grips to break top 10
otherwise, aye
fiona apple will be higher than that
ever since M.I.A. ripped them a new asshole about being misogynist they go out of their way to praise solo female artists
a hip hop album was #1 two years ago, they've never given an R&B record top position so its gonna go to franky for sure

Has everyone who *fucking loves* the Frank Ocean album heard the Miguel album, out of interest?
Because even before Kaleidoscope Dream came out I couldn't really see why Channel Orange was getting so much praise, and then Miguel came along and completely blew it out of the water. Is it just because people who don't normally listen to r'n'b have been told this is an r'n'b album they can like?
nah, because it's a better album
Not for me,
but let's not forget that we can like both.
second half of that album grew on me a lot
The Miguel record is great
I grew bored of Channel Orange pretty quickly but I still spin Kaleidoscope Dream a lot.
Channel Orange's high points (Pyramids) are amazing
As an album though there's just too many dull songs and pointless interludes. Think he's capable of better. The Miguel album is just class though.
People have limits, bro.
One rnb album per year-end list is the standard.
I was foolishly optimistic that there would be a new D'Angelo album this year.
:(
Keep your head up
We're closer than we were 10 years ago!

I don't think they'll just go with what's been rated highest throughout the year
Expect both FlyLo and Cloud Nothings to be in the top 10 (maybe 15 for Cloud Nothings).
They'll have Frank Ocean as number one. Don't think they'll worry too much about avoiding what's safe, look at last year's results.
