I used to be into PK back in the late-80s/early-90s, but I have to admit he doesn't really do much for me any more. Still ^this track is brilliant.

PK without the Coloured Girls/Messengers just does very little for me
largely because I find singer-songwriters accompanied by little else than an acoustic guitar dead fucking boring (that includes Dylan and all the other untouchables).
To Her Door, Dumb Things, Before Too Long, etc. are all great, but whenever he drops the backing band I start to fall asleep. Every Fucking City is the exception, because it's humorous.
Oh, and I fucking despise Careless, but, as you say, YMMV.
