Gong
...just saw 'em. They were great. Really cool to see a band from that era who've stayed true to music and not descended into a chasm of psytrance or something.

How did it smell?
a subtle blend
of patchouli, weed smoke and paid-off mortgages.
Wait a minute...
Are you saying that psytrance/electronic is not music? VERY narrowed opinion I must say.
You should know that one of Gong's ex-members (the guitarist Steve Hillage) started many years ago an electronic music band named System 7 (with Miquette Giraudy).
Take a listen and tell me this is not music...

didn't mean that
I guess I kind of expected it to be like when I saw White Noise a few years back. I was expecting an analogue experimental thing but they were doing a tedious 90s beats and bad visuals thing. Was really happy to see Gong generating interesting expansive soundscapes with a couple of guitars, bass, drums and brass.
I saw them last week too
& was v. impressed - they played 2 sets, & the second was a heavy, trippy, Krautrocky racket.
n.b. Daevid Allen would make a great Dr. Who!
I saw Daevid Allen in Tesco Express in Oxford yesterday
that was a pleasant surprise.
I've yet to see Gong, despite having plenty of opportunities to do so. I did see Here & Now last year though. They were blinding.
