Jesus Fucking Christ!!
Birmingham in good gig shock!! Awesome. They were tremendous last night at the Koko.
I feel slightly better now about missing them in Manchester-but April feels a long way off.
I like the sound of this Gira curated festival
Here's the flyer

YESS
ima ask him all about it tonight
he wouldn't reveal any details.
All I know is
Akron Family are playing
well the Seer guests are obviously prime candidates
I'd guess it'll be primary Young God bands and collaborators
Would prefer it if he branched out a bit tbh.
oh actually he did mention something;
the original brief had been a retrospective on Swans, with Gira picking bands who had played with them over the last 30 years, and i guess sets showcasing earlier material. he point black refused (i guess obviously)
S W A N S Bristol!!! Yup it's true!

Arnolfini is such an amazing venue...remember seeing EARTH there and it blew my mind.
i am fucking ecstatic about this news!!
whoop!
SHIT!
Need to get there!
He likes koko innit
what did they sound like at koko last week?
i mean, i've read the post-gig thread, and i know what swans sound like, but i also know what koko sounds like, and can't imagine it working, like even if they bring in tons of extra pa shit the shape of the room is so fucked for acoustics (yeah lol @ "acoustics", ok) that i can't see it being anything other than very very muddy?
or have they cracked it? or was it so loud that it really didn't matter and you felt it rather than heard it anyway? (which i guess might count as cracking it...)
the fact it was in koko was the only thing that stopped me trying to buy a ticket. but i wanna see them next time...
it wasn't bad
i'm not a fan of koko at all but from the floor about halfway back it sounded pretty good. wasn't quite as loud as i'd hoped but it wasn't totally fucked like i feared either.
I was in the same place and would have the same comments tbh
Looks pretty though doesn't it (convinced that's the reason so many bands play there)
sweet, thank you
:) that's enough to convince me.
Swans are fast becoming the new Sonic Youth since Sonic Youth have split up.
You know, the safely alternative band that National/Animal Collective fans say they like to make themselves sound a bit 'edgy'. In reality, real alternative music fans laugh at Swans.
Sam Ibbott like real music.
.
what are real alternative fans listening to then...
enlighten us...
Proper Tunes with Real Emotions.
if you really gave a shit...
you might try something along the lines of "if you like swans...you'll love yellow swans"...but no just go for the self-aggrandising dollar instead
This would make more sense if Animal Collective were more conventional than Swans/SY
except they aren't.
i'm out of the country
for the whole of this tour sadly. just did the 3 uk shows in 3 nights and it was an absolute joy.mouth to mouth looks like it could be a classic event - im guessing some polish neo-classical acts?
Oh shit.
Had to give away my Glasgow ticket but if I can make it to Mouth to Mouth that will more than make up for it.
i wrote about
the manchester show. you can read about it if you like: http://www.godisinthetvzine.co.uk/2012/11/21/swans-sound-control-manchester-saturday-17th-november-2012/
thanks.
x
bristol show is now at the academy.
bugger.
:(
Not surprising though, the Arnolfini is pretty damn small.
aw
I think I'm coming to the Bristol one and I was excited to see the venue, now not so much. But still excited to see Bristol for the first time, and Swans. Obvs.
move it forward a week, then im listening (still flying to china that night)
but still a shame, the arnolfini would have been sweet.
